Hello all. I have 3 Behringer amps (bridged for fronts and center channel). I want to amplify my 4 surround speakers but don't want to get 4 more behringers (bridged) to do it. The speakers (Polk FXi30s) required 10-100 amps. My thinking is to get 2 more Behringers and connect them in stereo, which provides 165 w/channel, whereas the 3805 provides 120 w/channel.

1. Would I gain much and is it worth it?

2. Would an amp with over 200 amps be a better solution. If so, please recommend me some amps (price range $200-400)?

3. What would you recommend I do or what would you do in this situation?

Thanks for any help.

1) From what I hear, the fronts and center speakers benefit the most from outboard amplification.
2) You cound get 2 mono amps for the mains and use the freed up A500s in non-bridged mode for the 4 surrounds or buy 2 more A500's...
3) I dont see the point in externally amping the surrounds since they are not nearly as demanding as the mains and the 3805 is a very good receiver in terms of power. Since your fronts and center are on external amps already, you freed up a lot of power for the surrounds. I'd just use the receiver.

I see your point because I have noticed that the surrounds are louder after connecting the A500s. Something to think about.

I do not think there are any audible benefits to your proposed upgrades. As it is, your receiver is probably not even breaking a sweat even at loud volumes. I would stand pat.

Methodical, I know you're keen about the 2910 but have you considered purchasing the 3910 instead as it have Denon Link that will go well with your 3805 AVR. I got mine for $799 and it's a marvelous player. Just something to think about.

What makes it more special than the 2910?

For one if you read the reviews for the 3910 you will see it was rated very favorably. However, reviews are not everything but it is a starting point none the less. Here is a link that compares both units.

Thanks for the comparison info. I decided to order the 2910 - $400 shipped (new). The price difference between the 2 will allow me to get either a tape deck, turntable or both, which will complete my system.:D
