Need "decent" AVR for the bedroom

Recently updated my main system in the living room, and I was hoping my old Yamaha would hold out for another year or two in the bedroom but it died recently. Need something for the master bedroom to run a 5.1 system that will be used 90%+ for movies. It will only have an LG blueray player & cable box hooked up to it. Ipod connectivity isn't an issue. A second audio zone is requested by the wife because she wants music in the bathroom.

Narrowed it down to a refurbished Dennon 1090 ($265), refurbished Onkyo 607 ($265), or a new Pioneer VSX-1019 ($300). The refurbished units have a 90 day warranty, and the prices shown reflect shipping.

Leaning toward the Pioneer because it is new, has a full warranty, and received decent reviews.

You can find a new Denon 1611/591 for $300; that'd be my pick.

Check out ecost.com for refurb Denons, you can get a really good price on one. Or my parents have a Denon AVR-1705 for sale for $150+ shipping, it's nothing fancy, but it works great.

I run a refurbished Onkyo TX-SR707 in my bedroom and recommend it. It adds Audyssey MultiEQ over the 607 and the Pioneer, and (If you're in the US) it comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty.

Thanks

I must have misread the warranty on the accessories4less site. Thought it was only 90 days.

Check out the Sherwood Recievers, they have auto setup and a second zone. I've never used the second zone so can't comment on its functionality, but otherwise I like the simplicity of it.

Radical change in plans. Gotta love it when somebody pays you for something you built in your garage. Tried to post link, but being the newbie that I am forum rules wouldn't allow it. Just purchased the Yamaha RX-V3900 from the Audioholics store

Well, I was looking for a budget receiver for the bedroom until somebody handed me $700 today (hobby turned into a side business). Looks like the living room is getting a new AVR and the mid range AVR is heading to the bedroom.

I did look at the upper end refurbed Onkyos, but they wouldn't fit depth wise in the entertainment center. My wife is going to $#@% when I break out the hole saw this weekend to drill holes for cooling fans in her Tommy Bahama furniture so I know she wouldn't like the sawzall being fired up to cut out the back so the Onkyo would fit. If I end up in the doghouse, I'll be banned to my workshop where my Technics receiver from high school is still kicking out the tunes and the beer fridge is well stocked

A 3900 in the bedroom? Lucky you. It is the best deal going.;)

No, the 3900 is going to replace what is in his living room, and the one from his living room is going into his bedroom.
