<font color='#000000'>First I would like to say that stumbling upon this site has been one of the best things I have done. I was extremely impressed with the articles on Composite Video Cables, speaker wire, etc.
Now for the question, can any of you recommend for me a quality Component Video cable for under $50? I have recently purchased a Toshiba 51HX83 HDTV along with an Onkyo HT-760 HTIB and a Panasonic DVD-F65K Progressive Scan DVD player.
I was extremely educated by the article you wrote and was also impressed with the snakeoil post, which made me immediately do a comparison test of my newly purchased Audioquest YIQ-G Component Video Cable against the RCA cable connection that was provided with the progressive scan DVD player.
The results of the test were that the Audioquest cables provided a slightly noticable difference in a more vibrant and color accurate picture, but I really had to look for it. I did not notice a difference in resolution though. And considering I was comparing a component video cable with a composite video cable, I expected to see a much bigger difference!
FYI: I was comparing it by pausing the DVD player and switching between the inputs. I'm wondering if the pausing is not a good test and if I should actually watch it in full motion.
So now I am left trying to figure out if these cables are performing as they should, or if there are much better performing cables for the same price (I paid around $50 for them). Considering the pricepoint of my components, I don't want to spend too much and just want a good quality Component Video Cable which will accurately send the signal from my DVD to the television. And no, looks and snakeoil don't matter.
I'm sure there are alot of people out there like me who would love to see you do a comparison like you did with speaker wire (hint, hint). But for now I could do with some solid recommendations by your staff.
Thanks in advance,
