Hi i have a decent HTIB set up by denon but i want to upgrade the front 3 speakers(center, left and right), If anyone can help me find 3 speakers, under $750, new or used (i would love to have floorstanders/towers if possible), I live in a apartment of 1000squere feet, I watch TV 50% listen to music 30% and play xbox 20%, Right now i have the Denon AVR 391 as the reciever, the dimensions of this amp are 5.1-channel home theater receiver/amplifier with 375 watts of total power (5 x 75W) 3D-enabled HDMI pass-through technology (HDMI 1.4a); all sources are up-converted to HDMI High-definition audio support--Dolby TruHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, and Dolby Pro Logic IIz for front height effects channels [/B]

second question is, I am definitly buying the SVS PB12-NSD, will this SUB work with my reciever? and will it compliment the speakers you are recomending?

please let me know what brand and model of speakers to buy, I would really appreciate if you fellow members can guide me, I would be eternally grateful, Thank you

I have a set of Ascend cbm170's with a 340sec center with a brand new wharfedale set of stands for the 170's...
the 170se's cost $350 new
340sec $300
stands $300
Ill sell all for $600

Even if you dont want used check out the 170 and 340 center, its amazing.. I bought these to do a 5.1 in my extra room, and my wife said "NO" :( I just sold the rears, all I have left is one sub and this stuff.. All orginal boxes included.

For a sub I use HSU and it sounds awesome with the Ascends, but a lot of good things are said about the pb12

Given the receiver you have, I'd suggest relatively sensitive (>89dB) 8ohm speakers... particularly if you want the option to push the volume knob. The amp section of the 391 is not robust enough to drive low sensitivity and/or low impedance (4ohm nominal) speakers.

The Ascend 340SE could be a good option.

Another option, and is a good one - the HTD Level Two speakers.
You can get the towers, center and the bookshelves for surrounds,

Audioholics did a review of the new P363 and found them to be essentially 4ohm speakers, which means they are more difficult to drive and most budget receivers will struggle. Your receiver is not rated for 4ohm loads, which means you will not have good performance at higher volumes and will likely start clipping before you would with a more efficient speaker.

They are good speakers, but need some juice to perform.

Denon AVR391 driving Infinity primus p363 towers

I am still very interested in buying the Infinity Primus p363 towers, My question is, as one member stated, my denon drives 8ohms and the infinity speakers require 4ohms, will this make a hugh difference? i dont play the music very loud cause i live in a apartment, also i am planing on buying a good center to match these infinities and a $800 SVS PB-12NSD sub, please let me know if these will work with my reciever, i am planing on buying the speakers tommorow, i need you guys help please:confused:

I bought some Infinity Primus and didn't like them. I'd say listen to them before you buy them. If you can bring a couple of CD's and see If they are to your liking. Alot of board members love them here. I just found something missing.

A pair of these for $200.00. They were 159.00 each:

or bookshelf $99
Amazon.com: Pioneer Andrew Jones Design Bookshelf Loudspeaker: Electronics
Center $99.00:
Amazon.com: Pioneer Andrew Jones SP-C22 Center Channel Speaker: Electronics
These have garnered great reviews and are designed by Andrew Jones one of the best in the business and you can listen to them at your local Best Buy. Board member zieglj01 here has the bookshelf and loves them. These should do well with your Denon and are a great deal.

I'd highly recommend getting that sub on an isolation platform. I have the exact same sub in an apartment building and haven't got a single complaint from the neighbours. Also, your AVR should have a midnight setting which should also help reduce complaints for late night movie watching :)

This is a great option to at least try/demo. I have the Level 3 LCR and they are amazingly crisp, detailed speakers without any hint of strain (I rarely, if ever play past -20 on my AVR powered by an XPA3 and matched to an Empire).

I'd be seriously looking into XTZ. Their drivers damn near cost as much as the speakers. Obviously that's not the final say as far as SQ goes, but still...it's a great start. I'm amazed at the 99.36mkII's. I REALLY want to hear them

I can't imagine having that SVS sub in an apartment! I just got mine and worry about my neighbors complaining - and I live in a house with at least 30 ft of separation. Those isolation platforms must work wonders!

The building has concrete walls and floors/ceilings which also helps. Also I make an effort to be courteous after 10 pm or so and lower volume/put my avr on the midnight setting :)
