Hitachi 60vs810
polk csi5 center
polk rti10 fronts
3 polk rc60i rear in the ceiling
polk psw505 sub
marantz sr5500 rcvr

Sounds competent, but I'm not sure the Marantz components are the vest value. I'd go a little cheaper in the DVD player, CD player, and receiver (say Yamaha, Denon, or JVC) and put the extra money in a speaker or sub upgrade.

Either way, you can't really go wrong though.

Looks good, but..

I was never a fan of Marantz, I would look into a Denon or Yami. I also wouldn't mount the speakers in the wall, this might cause listening problems. There are other Threads about placing regular speakers in a wall, they seem to cause problems. Also the sub being a 12", you might want to shop around, you might be able to get a better sub for the same or lower cost.

But this is just my $0.02 :D

If it is a basement you are finishing off, then what is your ability to control light in the basement? You could go with a front projection system and spend under $3,000.00 for a projector and a 106" diagonal screen.

While a 60" LCD television is nice, it is not something that I would consider part of a 'home theater' experience unless I did not have light control at all. This usually isn't the case with basements though.

If you are willing to do a little work yourself, and ask a few questions, installing a projector and a screen is REALLY quite simple. The screen is hung on the wall like a picture and the projector is bolted to the ceiling with a few (large) screws. All that leaves is running some wires which you can pick up online easily.

I always say 'front projection' though, so if you can't do it, then ignore me.

But, take a few minutes (hours) and look around at www.projectorcentral.com which I think is the audiohilcs.com of projectors.

I'd agree with some of the above. Move to a Denon, save some money on CD/DVD since new standards are coming out soon (hopefully!) and definitely get a better sub.

escape: I would like to suggest that if you are really serious about doing up a home theater and spending your cash on it, that maybe you want to spend a few days (weeks?) thinking about every section of your theater.

You can do it cut-and-dry easy and just let a sales flunkie (or maybe you'll get a good sales techie) design and SELL you a system. But, that's the issue - they are selling it for profit, picking from their in-house brands, and may not have a clue what is really appropriate for you.

You may not even have an idea of what speakers, sizes, amps, power, video, screen size, video type, and CABLES (not Monster @ retail pricing!) you will need for any of this. But, you can save hundreds of dollars and get a lot more quality if you do some research ahead of time.

You can save thousands if you are doing the installation work yourself instead of letting someone else install it all.

You may want to consider where equipment is going as well, equipment racks, whether you want your gear located right at your TV, or tucked away. What are you going to use to control all this gear? Or, is it going to be 7 remotes on a coffee table? The Internet is a wonderful tool - use it! :)

BMXTRIX is right. A well informed shopper is a smart shopper.

I'm not sure if this question has been asked/answered but are you going to have a chance to audition your pkg from your reseller? It sounds like a alot of gear to purchase all at once...

Good Luck,
