Greeting guys. I'm new in this forum and in home entertainment systems as well. I am planning to purchase an entertainment system next month, so perhaps I could obtain additional information from the experts and the experienced.

Considering budget constraints, Im choosing between these two floorstanding speakers: Monitor Audio BR5 and Q-Acoustics 1050. Both of them sound good but unfortunately I cannot audition them head-on because they're in different (rival) stores. The receiver that I'll gonna use is an Onkyo TX-SR605 and my subwoofer will be a Velodyne CHT-12R.

Which of the two speakers will be a better choice and will be of better chemistry with those component?

All your advise is highly appreciated.

welcome to the forum

Monitor audio make great speakers and they are a solid company all around.
They are in the low end of the high end range if that makes any sense to you?
Don't know to much of the other brand.

Buy them both to A/B them in your home and return the one you don't like. Problem solved.

Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of buying both speaker. At any rate, It's up to me to decide and beside, I've been doing my own research by comparing their specifications. However, I need to be "inspired" by those who has "bat ears" keen enough to hear whose much more better.

Thanks for your advise rnatalli. Do you know someone who, by chance, A/B'd those two speaker?

It seems the Q-Acoustics hasn't shown evidence of its quality unlike Monitor Audio.
