Hey Y'all
I got a Marantz SR5010 driving a 7.1 setup in my family room. However I have two extra speakers in the kitchen and two more on my patio. My goal is simply to have both of those extra zones spit out two channel copies of whatever is playing on the main 7.1 setup at adjustable volumes.
I tried using the pre-amp (left and center channels) out to another receiver RCA two channel inputs (a old Pioneer receiver I had from before the Marantz). No sound whatsoever. For the time being I bought a crappy pile amp on amazon for the kitchen speakers and it almost works although max volume is barely enough but it wasnt powerful enough to power the outdoor speakers.
What I would rather is something I can drop the pre-amp channels FL,C,FR,RR,RL to another device that would smoosh them back into 2 channel audio and then power speaker sets A and B and different controllable volumes (or at least be able to set the channels so they both produce the same volume and that be controllable). I dont know if such a device exists.
So yeah, I dont know why the pre-amp out to the Pioneer failed me, nor do have a good idea what would work better than buying two powerful amps to take in center and left which is kind of crappy. Any advice would be welcomed.
Oh just in case you are wondering, most of the time the extra zones are off when watching TV, however when playing music I like to be able to fill the kitchen and if having a party get it outside as well.
