I just recently finished installing all my in wall and ceiling speakers thru-out my whole house. I have a total of 12 different zones. So what do I need now? A zone switcher? or a low power multi channel amp? I was hoping I could run some type of switching unit, so I can play music and just select the zone and or zones.

Thanks
David

David,

Do you want to have volume and source control for each zone or can you group them so you can get down to six? You could do this as simple as using the second zone on your receiver with a good two channel amp and a speaker selector and put volume controls in each room. You could also look at a Niles multi zone receiver that will give you compete source an volume controls for each zone. You would have to daisy chain them to get 12 zones I think the most the make is six.

How are the speakers organized?

I have them as left and right in each room. I don't really care about volume in each room. I was planning on having the main source in kitchen pantry. to turn up or down all zones. I can groups them however I want I guess. I have each zone separate. bed 1 bed 2 bed 3 nook living room ect ect

Here is my setup now:

I have 3 "zones" controled by an intellipad and a speaker selector in my kitchen. From this I can turn on certain speakers and control the source and volume from one place. With this speaker selector I could have 6 pairs of speakers.

Sounds expensive. I spent so much money on my HT room. I'm looking for poor mans way to get sound in all other rooms.

Not expensive at all. I paid about 100 bucks for the amp. The intellipad was $50 on ebay and the speaker selector also came from ebay for around 50. Add in the speaker wire cat 5, main system unit (to feed the ir signals) and a few flashers I have a total of $350 in the whole thing.

I am looking into some different options to feed video so I may be selling one of my Intellipads (I have an extra) and a MSU140 (main system unit) which would be a good start. If you are interested PM me.
