Need Advice on prposed system

Hi all,
I am at long last looking to replace my old teenage set up that I have had for 20+ years. At first, I want this system just to listen to music. Nothing more. I do, however, want to add to the system as my wallet allows. I am not an audio expert, I just want really good sound and the ability to expand the system easily.
Given that, here is what is what I am thinking of:
- Outlaw 990 prepro
- Pair of Outlaw 2200 M Blocks
- Pair of Rti12's
Once again, I want to add to this system as cash allows; that is why the 990. I can just keep adding 2200's for other channels right?
Any thoughts, comments, or other suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help.

First, welcome to the forum!

I've heard good things about Outlaw. If you don't know, the 990 is on sale for $200 off until next Tuesday, November 6. Also, you can save a little money on the monoblocks if you buy b-stock, but you'll already be saving on shipping by getting two at the same time.

I like the monoblocks. 200W/channel, fairly small, and not too heavy. One thing about getting multiple monoblocks is that each one requires an electrical outlet. If you get a multichannel amp, then you only need one outlet. Four days ago, I would have recommended the Emotiva RPA-1 over two monoblocks because it (a) is also a good amp, (b) is a 200W/channel two-channel amp, and (c) would have cost just about the same because it was on sale. It'll go on sale again, but it's about $100 more than the monoblocks right now.

That's about all the input that I have for now. Looks like a nice system.

Don't rule out Emotiva. I have an LMC-1 prepro, and LPA-1 amp running 2.1 for now, till I can figure out what type of surrounds I want. Emo sells mono blocks too.

Adam and I have parallel thought patterns on AV gear, so I concur with everything he posted.

But the 990 DOES NOT support HDMI, and like it or not, when you upgrade, your going to want HDMI. All the new receivers and prepros are going that route, not to mention DVD, Wide Screen TV's etc.

Good Luck and have fun!

Adam and Ric,
Thanks; I appreciate your input.
On the DVI/HDMI front, though, can't I just use a DVI to HDMI conversion cable? Will this cause any problems?
Thanks agin,

I went and looked at the 990, as it was awarded twice in 2005, IMO its outdated. The specs don't even mention video resolutions

If it were me, I would start off with an Emotiva RSP-1 & RPA-1 for $1299.00. That is strictly for 2.1 systems, 200 watts per channel, i.e. it's advertised for music lovers. Then when you want to upgrade, Emotiva will give you 40% off on your next prepro! Get the latest and greatest, sell the RSP-1 pre amp, keep the RPA-1 amp, buy the prepro you like (at 40% off to return customers), add mono blocks from anyone, be happy :)

If you buy that 990, you'll be sick to your stomach in January when Emotiva releases their new prepros and amps. I know I'll be a return customer for 40% off list.

And no, I don't work for Emotiva, I just respect their toys.

Hmmm... Put that way, it does sound like a good idea. I gues it's time for some more research!
Thanks, I appreciate your input!

Also, in case you missed it, Outlaw is offering $200 off future pre/pros if you order the 990 (at least if you do it by Tuesday). Probably not as good as 40% at Emotiva, but not bad.
