I would like to go with a receiver to replace the dead amp and the existing processor and tuner listed below and keep the speakers and TV, add a medium DVD player until the HD/Blu-ray battle is clearly resolved. I do 85% TV/Movie watching and only 15% music, but music will shift higher as I get the new receiver, hook up the iPod and replace a dead DVD player.

What do you guys recommend. I have been told to go with either the Onlyo 805 or the Denon 2808. Others have said go for the Denon 3808.
1) Is it worth paying up for the 3808 over the 2808?
2) why wouldn't I just save $$ and go with the Onkyo 805?

What are the +/-'s of these coices?

TV: Panasonic TH-50PX50U Plasma
AV Control Pre-Amplifier: SONY TAE990ES Surround Processor with Digital Dolby and DTS
AM/FM Tuner: SONY ST-SE200
L/R Main Speakers: Snell K5
Center Speaker: Snell CR5
Rear Speakers: Triad InCeiling Gold/6 Omni
Subwoofer: Velodyne VA8100X

Denon and Onkyo are both fine products so you can't go wrong either way. It comes down to features and prices really. You might want to check out Emotiva as well this month as there are some great deals on their separates.
