Need Advice on Components

I'm continuing to learn about H/T and so far it hasn't cost me any money. I'm trying to put a H/T room together and it is getting very confusing. Here's where I need help:

I'm going with a projector and have a decent Paradigm speaker set up. I want to go with a Denon 3805/2910 combo, my installer is recommending Yamaha HTR5790/DVDS550. He is telling me I don't require the additional power and that the picture will be as good. My problem is that it's not about money and I'm not looking to skimp, am I getting good advise?

Room size 12x18x8.

Thanks,
Win

The 3805 is a solid choice, no matter what. It's good now and it is upgradeable for future versions of DTS and Dolby "logic". It has alot of options in terms of video inputs and secondary room outputs.

Some of the advice is good. The 2910 might be overkill if you think you might be one to join on the BluRay or HD-DVD systems that should be out by the end of the year. You might conisder a less expensive unit like the Yamaha 750 that gives you the ability to play SACD and DVD-audio through the new receiver, but will only set you back $ 300 (for now) instead of the $ 900 ish for the bigger dvd player (the Denon 1910 might fall into this category, but I don't know much about it).

Hello
If you are going to get a FP system that has good internal video processing
(IE) all of the Infocus Screen Play projector's have Faroudja processing
Then you can use a good mid priced player I am currently reviewing the 2910
And the review should be done in a week or so. Projector selection should be based on Room conditions, seated viewing distance, screen size, viewing habits and installation consideration's choosing the wrong projector for the installation is a terrible thing, choosing the right one is Priceless ;)

The best advice I can give you is to not overlook the 2910 it has allot going for it. The Yamaha 750 is a great player and it also outperforms its perspective $329 price point Its a bit quirky but for the price these short commings should be overlooked

Thanks for the great advice, I was leaning to the Yamaha 750 if I go with the HTR5790. There were some good consumer reviews that I read on the 5790.

For a projector I'm currently looking at the Optoma H57 which one of the installers is highly recommending. From the room size it looks like we're going with a 92"-94" screen and are viewing from 12-13 feet. There is a door in the back left corner that won't allow us to sit all the way back. Well, if we were using only two seats we could.

I'm getting another estimate this week and he is recommending Pioneer for the reciever and DVD and Hitachi for the projector.

I'll keep everyone up to date on what the outcome is.

Thanks,
Win
