Hi,

I am totally new to decent pc speakers so I really need help here. My budget is around $200 and I LOVE BASS! (it would be great if my room is shaking)
I think that I am looking for a good 2.1 system with a heavy, deep bass/subwoofer or a 2.0 system with a subwoofer.

Do you guys have any suggestions or a beginners guide?

Thanks :)

Getting a decent 2.1 is a NO GO in that tiny budget. A (decent) subwoofer alone will cost more than that!!

If you can stretch your budget ever so slightly, I recommend a pair of these:

They've got bass down to 50hz. Measurements could be better but it's slim pickings at this price point:

Unfortunately $200 isn't a lot to work with. Do you have something to power them or is the budget for amp and speakers/sub? Anyhow here are some thoughts on where you might take things...

Some entry level subs from good brands, as you can see they break the budget.

HSU STF-1 is on sale for $254, add an extra $35 for shipping http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/stf-1.html

Outlaw audio M8 is $249 shipped, $225 for bstock.

Your best bet on that budget is probably DIY and/or used.

Maybe the tritrix kit from parts express $239 shipped but I've seen it onsale for $199 -

Maybe some overnight sensations and a modest sonosub?

Another thought, for a taste of good sound on a budget, headphones can't be beat. A pair of Grado SR60s will give you a taste of high end sound for ~ $80. They sure won't shake your room though!

Get a used Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 on ebay or Craigslist. Save the rest.

The only thing to note on the older ProMedia's is that the back plate has a special connector that seems to malfunction over time or is easy to destroy due to miss-use. Make sure the piece you get has a firm connection with no craclking or buzzing from the speakers.
