I’m very new to the audio home world, and I’m looking to build my first system, I’m planning to build a system in our living room which is connected to the kitchen. The room size: 19’ x 19’ with 11’ ceilings. The house already has the wires in the ceiling to run in-ceiling speakers and to please the wife we would go with that to keep a “cleaner” look. I’m not a audiophile but would like to have some quality with the budged we have. We are trying to stay in the area of USD 1,600.00.

I was ready to pull the trigger on the bose system Bose Acoustimass 10 Series with Yamaha RX-483 receiver. But after a few research came to find out that this was not the best option.

Currently I’m looking at the below setup

4 x Polk Audio RC80i – in ceiling

Center Speaker - Polk Audio CSI A6 Center Channel Speaker

Receiver - Denon AVRS930H

Sub-Woofer - ????

My next question is, should I spend more money and upgrade the front speakers to a Klipsch CDT-2650-C and get a cheaper Center Speaker? Would that be an issue in quality to have 2 different brands (front and back) in case I upgrade the fronts?

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated for this newbie right here J

You do realize you're sacrificing a lot in audio quality for the "cleaner" look of in-ceiling speakers, right? You've got a fairly large space. Could you talk your wife into an in-room front L/C/R at least?

For ceiling speakers that are in the $160-$170 each price range, I would look to RBH and Monitor Audio.

Right now it seems the Monitor Audio CT180 8" ceiling speakers are on sale. Normally, they are $250 each. But I bet your dealer could get you those for $150 each.

RBH dealers could also get you the VA-815 8" ceiling speakers for around that price (normally they are $250 each).

The RBH Center speakers will be more than $260, but the Monitor Audio Bronze Center speaker is about your price range.

Another option is JBL.
