Greetings!!

After few years of thinking now decided to have a dedicated stereo system. I listen to almost anything except Bass heavy music mostly instrumental, concerts music. I somehow got the BOSE Lifestyle few years back which i feel is ok for movies but nowhere closer to music listening. I also have couple headsets AudioTechnica M50X, B&W P3(enjoy the most for long listening). My music source is mostly Spotify and sometimes from desktop though i own some favourite Audio CD's (<40).

I am planning a setup in my office room (12 X 12)which has couple book racks ceiling high and a table and a chair, a window with shade. I want to start with a system which i can upgrade later also. I listened to B&W Diamond D3 setup in BestBuy and was mesmerized but way over my budget at this point. I will get it one day for sure.

Budget $3K -$5K to start with, I can invest few thousand every year for any upgrade.I need suggestions for a lifelike music setup where I can immerse. Thanks for all the help audioholics!!!

Note: I am going over some other posts, but it will take some time. Appreciate some help.

What are your preferences for component size vs. space? A couple of components or a simpler system? Speaker size?

Hi.

That's a great first post and you're doing the right thing by asking questions BEFORE you buy anything. I have limited experience with a variety of speakers, but I do own a pair of SVS Ultra Bookshelf Speakers that might fit the bill for what you're describing. They're pretty neutral and articulate, and they dig pretty deep for a bookshelf speaker. They sound great and for your style and room size, they might just do the trick.

There are plenty more options out there though and with your budget you'll get a bunch of good suggestions. I'm still doing my own homework on amplifiers and avr's so I'll let the more experienced folks guide you on that. Welcome to Audioholics!

Another consideration might be a pair of these http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/speakers/SRM2/srm2.html.

Why do you think you'll need to continually upgrade an office type music system? The speakers suggested so far would work very well. You plan on moving to a much bigger room later for larger towers or something? You want to stick to 2ch? No sub in the future?

PS What sources do you have or want to incorporate into this setup?

Thanks for echoing my mind :).
At some point(couple of years atleast) I will bid farewell to BOSE Lifestyle. This system will move to living room(20 X 12) and will add components later for both listening music and movies.

You want to use part of the Lifestyle system? Which part(s) do you want to keep using and which model do you have?

Philharmonic slims looks good. Also checking the Axiom speakers M50 M60. What other components I will need and some recommendations.

Axiom isn't anywhere near the same level as Philharmonic Audio. They should not even be mentioned in the same thread.

Do you think those would be a step up from SVS Ultra towers? I know one of the big advantages with the slims are the raal tweeters and Dennis' work is very highly regarded. I'm just curious. They're close in price.
No offense to the Ultras, but Yes.

Oh, I figured that would be the reply. I've read a lot about Dennis' work and I'm not surprised. Some day I hope to have some more fun money and I'd like to get towers. I've been eyeballing the Ultras, but for a couple hundred more, the slims look very nice. I see the cabinets are made by Jim Salk?
