Need advice about active crossover

I need to know, how and what I need to add a Behringer active crossover to my yamaha system. I have a C70 preamp and a M70 amp to be used for the woofers, and a M35 to be used for the mid and tweeter.
Do I need just cables xlr to rca, rca to xlr. Or do I need a clean box? And where do I install it. between the preamp and the crossover or after the crossover and before the amp.
Generally I need to know how to hook it up to be functional. And yes I do have bi-ampable speakers:confused:

The first thing you are going to have to do is modify your speakers. You need to remove the crossover in your speakers.

Then you need to make a copy of the circuit. You will need to then preserve or rebuild the high pass end of the band pass filter. Quite likely it will involve building a new high pass filter for the mid tweeter crossover, but you might be able to preserve that part of the original crossovers depending on the circuit.

Now you will have to pay attention to the order of the woofer/band pass filters. You will have to figure out how to deal with the bandpass gain in the system. You will have to see if there are any Eq circuits in your crossover so you know how to duplicate them in the Behringer.

The Behringer will have to be set to the same frequency and order for the low pass and high pass, as the passive crossovers.

Now you will need to connect the input to the salvaged/rebuilt passive crossover to an input terminal. You will have to connect the woofer inputs directly to another terminal.

Now the Behringer connections. Connect the pre amp out to the Behringer input. Connect the Behringer low pass out to the bass amps. Connect the high pass out, to the amps driver the mid/tweeters.

That is how you do it.

Thanks for the info. very infromative. But what do I need to hook preamp to crossover? And from crossover to amplifer? I was told that sence a home system is unbalance. And the crossover is for a pro system, a balanced system. That they arn't compatable. Can I just use adapter cables. or do I need to invest a lot of money a so called clean boxes. Do I need to clean box signal from preamp to crossover, and or from crossover to the amplifer.

Yes you should be able to go XLR to RCA, those cables are floating cables and should work fine.

Before you start you must be able to modify your speakers. You can not connect to the speakers like you would for passive bi-amping. You have to make the mods I was telling you about.

In an xlr balanced system pin 1 is ground, pins 2 and three carry the signal, pin2 +ve deflections, and pin 3 -ve deflections. To float the line, pins 1 and three are connected to the ground of the RCA plug. This is called a floating line, and usually works satisfactorily in practice.

I remain concerned about your ability to carry your plan out. It is actually much harder to adapt a speaker for active crossovers, than start with a design from scratch. I just hope you have the knowledge to carry the modifications to your speakers correctly. If you don't do things correctly, you will spend a lot of money and have worse sound by far.

The fact you posed this question really makes me wonder if you can carry out what is required. I just don't want you to waste a lot of money.

I do have some experance in crossovers. I started out with Reaistic Boxes. Up dated Woofer. replaced cone midrange with a dome midrange. A up dated tweeters with ribbons. I then had to rebuild the crossovers for the new speakers. Using online calculators, and infomation from online sources. I reconfigured mid and tweeter crossovers. On one board and woofer low pass on another. and replacing speakercups for bi-amping, and recalucated port tube lenght. and added dampening. They sound really good. I really enjoy, playing around with this stereo. But I want to go to the next step and go from bi-wire to bi-amp. Just unsure about hooking together preamp unbalanced to crossover(balanced) then back to unbalanced amp.
I was told by a dealer that I bought the crossover from that I needed 3 clean boxes.
I was told by someone else that I should just go to ebay and buy premade xlr shorted to rca. cables.
I read the specs. from my preamp, and the crossover, and the amp. To me it looked like I might need maybe a clean box from preamp to crossover, but maybe shorted cables from crossover to amps.
Just didn't want to be milked out of more money then needed.
So I was looking for a second opinion.
