Need a quick answer on wiring

I own a a DVD player with 6 analog outputs on it. It supports DVDA. If I use the analog outputs to run to my Marantz receiver, are those the only outputs that I need to use? Should I also run the digital output to the receiver and if so, why?

I am assembling this system right now so the sooner the answer the better.

Thanks

The analog outputs on your DVD player will have bass management done by the player or a bass management device that you put between the player and receiver. The receiver will not do any bass management on the signal. I believe you also lose the ability to use DSP modes on your receiver. If you plan on listening to DVD-As or SACDs, you will need to hook up your player this way. You should use digital if you want to use the bass management in your receiver and take advantage of DSP modes.

I personally just use digital because my player's bass management is garbage (as in it doesn't have an adjustable crossover).

I have both hooked up. I like DVD-A's but I also like the digital DSP's of my processor for movies.

I assume that if I hook them both up, the receiver will give me the option of which to use? Ill just experiment a bit.

Thanks again for the help.

I used both inputs and set each to a different selection on the Receiver. Works pretty well. Thanks for the help.
