Need a potentiometer

I need to place a potentiometer between my Behringer dsp1124p and my integrated amp to lower the output volume. Is there such a thing as a component potentiometer to go on an AV rack? Could someone point me to a few recommendations?

Thanks,
Nick

I don't know of a 'component potentiometer'. The closest thing would be a 'passive preamplifier' which is just a potentiometer with a source selector and rca input/output jacks in a big chassis. If you need a very small pre-made line attenuator(basicly a rca cable with a very small box and volume control in the middle of it), I can solder one up for you if you don't want to, for the cost of parts + shipping.

There are really expensive ones like this one, but i'm guessing that's out of your price range.

If you want to lower the output by a fixed amount you can use something like this.

But my recommendation is, if you're handy with electronics, you could build your own. Google for audio attenuators, you can get plans for stepped line level attenuators. Or you could just buy a single resistor and put it inline with the signal.

If you build your own make sure none of the electronics you use are polarized. And use high quality resistors with 5% tolerance or less.

I got one from radio shack its a tower looking thing with a screw on it to adjust the volts. I used it to volt mod my computer. Hope that it what your talking about. It was in the drawers in the middle of the store.
