High all. Im looking for a surround sound setup for my computer in the $250 range. I have a Creative Auidigy Se platinum sound card hooked up to an Ubuntu Linux box. My room is pretty small in size. The system will be used for mostly music. Im looking for one that is clear sounding and outputs detail in the music very well. One that sounds full and immerses you. Id like it to be pretty loud, but I can sacrifice that for sound quality. I want a reciver/speaker combo, but I dont care about a DVD player, 5 disk changer. I just want the best sound quality for $250.

Get the nicest Logitech system you can with your budget, that is about as good as you are going to get for a PC. Getting a receiver speaker combo will not come close to performing with the Logitech at the same price. The higher model Logitechs are pretty flexible as well, accepting more than one audio connection and featuring built in Dolby Digital and DTS surround decoding. The also look very nice.
