Need a Headphone Amp...

I have Sennheisher HD-280 headphones and want to hook it up to an Oppo DVD Player, plus a VCR, plus a DVD Recorder/TV Receiver. Since I only use headphones, would best solution be a headphone amp? Would suich an amp accept those 3 inputs or would I need some other piece of equipment? Or, can I run those 3 inputs into my Sharp Flatscreen TV, and just run an audio out from the Sharp into the headphone amp thereby controlling everything from the TV?

Can I get a headphone amp that would perform the above function and have reasonable good sound for $100 or so?

Any recommendations on the best brand for the above price range?

Thanks,

Marty

Frankly, I doubt it. Here's a site that deals only with headphones and might be able provide youi with more information.

If you find an amp in your price range you can always add a $25 (or so) input selector from RatShack or the like.

Personally, I think you would be better off with a small/inexpensive receiver.

Good luck...

For under $100, you are better off using your existing receiver's headphone out.

Under $300, you can't really find a decent headphone amp.

Remember, headphone amps are boutique items compared to mass market receivers, thus you are paying a much higher price for not that much electronics.

How about the Xenos 3HA...

ATP Systems Xenos 3HA caught my eye -- anybody know anything about this headphone amp? Looks pretty good for $139. Or would you still recommend I just get a mass market receiver. Again, appreciate the help...

I have a Behringer UB1202 mini-mixer. When I'm not using it as a mic-pre for acoustic measurements, I use it as a headphone amplifier. It works perfectly; it has no noise(assuming you set the gain correctly) even on very efficient headphones(Sony MDR-CD3000 for example), and has very high voltage output possibility if you have a a very hard to drive headphone(AKG K 340 for example). It is basicly a perfect headphone amplifier(functionally), and you could use the multiple inputs(it is a mixer) for multiple sources. It's about $80USD.

It looks interesting, particularly for that price.

Iy looks like it supplies more than adequate poser. But, it lacks those three inputs. Time to visit RadioShack.

I've had great luck with my Behringer UB802 mixer as a headphone amplifier. You can even use the panning controls as a primitive crossfeed, and of course you have some basic tone controls for treble, mids and bass. No noise even with Sony V6s (again, assuming the gain is set correctly), and drives my Senn HD580s and AKG 240Ms with no trouble at all. About $50 USD.
