I'd just try to find something decent on your local craigslist.

I have this Denon in my office (about 1500 cuft) with some Behringer 2030P speakers and a small sub hooked up to it, and I've been happy with the results. At that price range, you really need to look at used/refurbished receivers and know what you go without feature wise.

Yeah

seeing a yamaha htr 5850 on craigslist for $100, any good? sorry new a question to posting lol
But with craigslist, by the time you ask and get a response, odds are it'll be gone.

You gotta act by instinct and quickly. ...unless you get lucky.

You can get one or the other....good and cheap never go together.

Judging by the screen name you have chosen, and your desire for "bad-*** bass" you have neither the taste nor the means to get a good receiver, so just go get aiwa....

Thank you...i'll be here all day!

If you want quality answer you should start with quality question.

I understand that you are looking to buy a receiver and your budget is $200.

Do you have speakers and sub, what make and model are they?
How big is your room? Is it open to other rooms? What's the typical use? (music/movie/tv/game)? What kind of music you listen to? (which apperently needs a lot of bass )

You Won't Like This, But ........

Unfortunately, $200 isn't going to get you much of anything new. This situation is not new at all. Even the "not so great" receivers start close to $300. At $200, you will have to very carefully search for a used receiver _ perhaps a used Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer Elite Series. As a side note, I got started in the audio game in the early 80s. Back then, $200 would not get a buyer much of anything new. Today, things are even worse for the bargain/budget hunter. Unless, you're in an "emergency situation", you should wait a while and move up to maybe the middle $300s to start. Sorry for the bad news.
