Need 7 or 8 channel analog amplifier advice

hey all, I'm building a compact HTPC which will be my source for all media. It will have a 7.1 sound card with analog outs so I need a compact analog amplifier with 7 channels. I was actually thinking to use something like an Alpine car amp. But looking to keep a high sound quality. I have good infinity speakers, and was using a Denon AVR which this system will replace. I'd hate to lose that sound quality.

Whats a good or great analog amplifier?

Thanks!

Doesnt work. I'm looking to replace it with an analog only 8 channel (or at least 5 channel) amp with very accurate sound and low distortion preferably something compact, like a car amp (but those dont have 'audiophile' quality sound)

Also, car amps won't work off home AC, which means no bulky power supply, which is needed for decent amplification.

Odds are the DAC in your Denon will do at least as god a job as the DAC in your sound card.

You're way off in your thinking.

I appreciate the replies. But what I need is suggestions for a simple 5 channel or more analog only amp with great or good sound reproduction. I have plenty of 12v power so 120 or 12 doesnt matter. What I need is 5 channels, small footprint, no controls (just amp) and good sound.

It’s no problem finding seven or five-channel home audio amplifiers (not sure why your requirements change every time you make a post), but you will not find one with a small footprint.

Why can't you use your Denon avr and save money? Why you must use your pc with analog amp with those channels? What model is your denon avr?

Listen Happily, Mark answered your question. Amplification means power, and power means size. (Have you ever looked in the trunk of a car w/ a good & loud system?) A high quality amp w/ a small footprint is like asking for a big screen TV that's less than 30" wide. You're asking the wrong question.

Exactly what do you mean by "small footprint"? How much room do you have. Are there possible alternatives to your amp location? Pictures of your space?
