I am buying a Denon 1700 needs speakers for my son’s apartment. he has my 64 inch Samsung plasma. The room is 11 to 12 feet wide. He has a circular couch in front of the TV which sits him back about 9 to 10 feet. behind him there is room and then it opens into a kitchen.. it was recommended to me to get the ascend CMT 340 SE2 pair and center and also the ascend HTM 200 SE2 for surrounds backed up by a RSL 10 S speed subwoofer. looks pretty good. looking to see if there’s any other options I should look at we’re probably trying to spend around $2000 for speakers.

With those dimensions, it sounds like the seating will be against the backwall. If so, just skip the surrounds. Just get a front-stage setup. If the seating has to be against the backwall, invest in an acoustic absorber to place behind the listening position.

After that, if it were me, I would just get a set of Polk Reserve R700s and skip the center and sub. Or maybe grab a pair of the HECO Aurora 1000s if they can still be had, and get an affordable sub with deep extension like the Hsu VTF-2 mk5 or RSL Speedwoofer 12s with the HECO speakers. The Polks do not need the assistance of a subwoofer.
