Narrowing it down....

After much hand-wringing and indecisiveness (and reading these forums over and over) on a new HT setup for a basement kids' room/HT, I have narrowed it down to the following choices (have decided on a HSU sub already so eliminating that from choices):

Front L/R: Aperion Verus Grand Bookshelves
Center: Aperion Verus Forte Center
Surrounds: Aperion Intimus Bipole Surrounds
Total cost: $2048

OR

Front L/R: Ascend Sierra-1
Center: Sierra-1
Surrounds: Ascend CBM-170SE
Total cost: $1558 + $88 shipping

OR

Front L/R: Ascend CMT-340SE
Center: Ascend CMT-340SE C
Surrounds: Ascend CBM-170SE
Total cost: $998 + $88 shipping

The room is approx 23 X 15 X 8. Hardwood floors w/large area rug surface. Couch will be approx. 10 feet from front wall so ~ 8 ft from speaker placement.

As of right now, I'm leaning towards the Sierra-1 combo, but I'm wondering if this layout justifies the $500 price difference between those and the 340's. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, if anyone thinks I'm totally missing the boat by not going with the Aperions, I'd be anxious to hear that as well. Thanks so much in advance!

Yeah, I would just get the Ascend 340s. And then get a second HSU sub.

If I were you, I would get

2X Genelec 8030A ($1400/pr @ bhphotovideo.com) for fronts
2X EMP E41 for surrounds ($300/pr @ EMPtek.com)

Total = $1700pr for a setup that IMO would blow you away.

Between your choices though, I think I would pick the Ascend Sierra 1 combo.

Seriously, speakers are a personal preferece, and there's no guarantee someone elses will match yours.

Asking for an opinon on which speakers you should buy the internet is kinda like posting pictures of girls and asking which one you should marry.

Seriously, both systems you metioned are quality and will do well for your needs. Which one you prefer can only be answered by you listening to them.
