This is a singer from one of my all time favorite bands. She was pretty sexy to ol' Tomorrow. ;)

Who is she?!

First correct answer wins a mystery CD. Winner (if any) will be announced Saturday, August 23.

Doh...okay, Jamie...good job. This was apparently a much too easy contest. Thought I'd tie you guys up for a little while at least. But no. :(

It is indeed the sex kitten of the '70's, Grace Slick. Hard to believe, though. Yes?!

What kind of music do you like, Jamie?

I can tell it is her from the original pic :) As unpleasant as it looks. To be honest, she kind of looks like Boy George in that pic

jefferson airplane became starship right?

if it's starship, i like their songs :)

looks like some "players" are different
Yeah they did. As an early Airplane fan, I always thought that the starship days were the musical equivalent of Jumping the Shark. Grace and Paul stayed for a while, but everybody else left. In the JA days, the Jorma/Jack/Spencer combination was an unbeatable combination and made some of my favorite concerts.

After that Grace really went down the tubes for a time with drugs and paranoia. I don't know if he really did, but Paul seemed to believe his own sci-fi fantasies. It wasn't a good ending.

Yeah, they ended with a flat tire, that's for certain. The mega-band lifestyle of too many drugs, miles, etc. took its toll on most groups, though. (It apparently didn't help Slick age Gracefully, either. ;)) But make no mistake, the Starship version with Papa John Creach and Marty Balin (when he was there) made some fabulous music together. And if you were into herbs...cough...cough...at the time, their sci-fi stuff made a lot of sense. ;)

Craig Chaquico, one of their guitarists (lead as Jefferson Starship), has been making music for years still. I have seen him twice and own a few of his albums - mainly guitar based obviously, but I really like most of his stuff and it is well mastered. He puts on a fine show also. Apparently he is credited with writing "Find Your Way Back" which he generally plays at his shows, though it is a revised version.
