Naim amps/power supply, just curious.

I was bored at work yesterday and decided to look at equipment above my current lotto winnings. Looking at Naim amps and they claim huge gains in their amps when using their proprietary power supplies. The descriptions were a bit confusing but it sounded like they plug directly into the amplifier stage and rely on capacitors...???? Is this all snake oil or are they doing something completely out of the box to how other amps function? It looks like a power conditioner but does it do something else as well?

Seriously, I have no life.
Sounds bogus to me. It is not really any more a power conditioner than any good power supply is. In essence every power supply has a power conditioning role as part of its function.

This unit though is not so much a power conditioner as a power supply replacement for units that are designed to be connected to its low voltage DC outputs.

Either way there are two possibilities here: -

1). The high priced units that have the ability to be powered from these units have deliberately deigned substandard power supplies so that two units instead of 1 are required to increase profit.

2). The unit adds no benefit and is provided to persuade the non technical to outlay more cash than they need to and increase profits.

I don't see any other rational explanation and neither is edifying and calculated to bring the company into disrepute.

There is a downside to this, and that is increase risk of interference, and you can see the company acknowledge and are concerned about this possibility in the user manual.
