This is my first review! This NAD Receiver is no ordinary piece of equipment. I don't know all the fancy terms in audio, I can only speak of what I have encountered so far. 2 inconveniences, 1 no paper manual. With this sophisticated audio gear it would make setup easier. I printed one out. 2 Small plastic plate covers front inputs. These are minor when looking at the whole picture.
My equipment has all HDMI so connecting was easy. Then I had to use the manual to start setup. Connected the Audyssey Mic and let the Receiver do the rest. One note, the room needs to be quite as possible, and nothing in the way of your speakers. I don't know how long the Receiver would continue to send tones, but stopped after four measurements. Then the Computer inside made adjustments and saved them. Another nice feature if you adjust the Sub, Surround, center, settings on the fly you can go back and automatically restore your initial settings. I checked the distances and levels, they were spot on. NAD said that they tweaked the Audyssey and was happy with letting the Receiver do the work. The rest of the setup was pretty straightforward. Naming inputs, storing radio stations. If you are a beginner and purchase this unit it might overwhelm you. I am no audiophile by any means, but having had NAD products before made setup a little easier. It's been along time since I have owned something that sounded so good. Years ago my system was Proceed AVP, their DVD player, and their Amps. I had so many problems with the equipment I sold it all. This Receiver brings back the memories of very good sounding equipment. One CD I have as a reference to all other music is by the two man team Yello, the CD baby. This was mastered back in 91 and today it will let you know just how good your system is.The remote is laid out very well, but once again the manual is needed to learn what each button means. The blue back light is bright so no problem there. So, to sum up everything this is more than a person could ask for. Just for the short time this has been in my house it was worth the Four grand. It can only get better from here. I hope this will help perspective buyers to ask questions. I just hope I am able to answer them. Thanks for this Forum.
