I wouldn't give much weight to the review in your link. The NADs and the Marantz are known for their wam musicality over other brands. So if these sound bright and harsh using a Martin Logan electrostatic speakers, they should. Because an electrostatic is not known to deliver warm sounds with their mercilessly revealling mids and high but a rolled-off bass response. And using a Klipsch which I consider more full range than any electrostatic speakers, the Denon can sound more full bodied. The evaluation is strained.

agreed

if he had used the exact same speakers in the exact same eviornment for all 3 recievers I'd give it much more weight.. pretty much a worthless review... speakers are the BIGGEST part of the sound reproduction equation, they have massive impact on how you hear the music.

I agree as well for much the same reasons. Also add to the equation that listening to music is a very subjective venture. I recently auditioned, side by side, NAD and Denon receivers attached to PSB Image speakers. I now own NAD/PSB. Different ears may have different opinions.

That's a not a review. That's a joke.

To try and trash two receivres with two speakers and then go and set up a third receiver on a third set of speakers and rave about it is the ultimate in gall. Talk about yer textbook apples to oranges comparison!

Now, if they tried the Denon on the SAME speakers as the other two, then I might have considered it.

I never heard of that site before but if that's how they review components, I ain't missing much.

...and I OWN a Denon 2802, which is more than living up to all my expectations. Somehow, methinks the NAD would have, also.

P.S... I believe that both NAD and PSB are handled by the same distributor, Lenbrook out of Canada
