We like this new trend in receivers. Rather than doling out features as the price going up, we are seeing features hitting lower price points and the number and types of connections increasing with price. The Aventage line from Yamaha has been popular since it was introduced and we see no reason to think that this new line will be any different. With 4k upscaling, Apple AirPlay, advanced YPAO room correction, and extra speaker terminals for easy configuration switching, there is little to complain about with the new RX-A720, RX-A820, and RX-A1020 receivers. The only question is which will best fit your needs and your wallet.

Question

Hello,
I haven't been around much because I've been happy with my gear. Well, I am ready to replace my Marantz SR-8400 in the living room. It has no HDMI and a couple of the connections are going bad on it. The display doesn't work either, so I cannot change the assigned inputs and am in need of doing so now. I do not want to spend the money to get the old thing repaired. Sadly, it still sounds fantastic and I hate to get rid of it but it's time.
What I'm looking for is simple. As for power, any modern receiver is capable of what I need it to do. I am looking for adequate sound and a decent feature set.

I need the following:
5.1 + 2.0 zone 2(internal amp) + 2.0 zone 3(control external amp)
HDMI in for blu ray player, XBox 360, HD Cable DVR, PC, and Roku XDS
Component in for Wii

And preferably:
Networking with airplay, pandora, app control, DLNA streaming
ALL video in's out through HDMI (wife would LOVE a one cable to display setup if not too expensive)

I am a fan of Yamaha and have one in the basement HT. I like Marantz but do not want to spend what new devices that new devices capable of what I want cost. Does the A720 do all this? $600ish is what I would be looking to spend.
