tell me about it, I live three hours north of you. :(
I never was big about Paradigm, that's not to say thay arn't good, just to say I don't personly like them, I am a big fan of B&W though.
my suggestions would be; KEF, the iQ or xQ lines (KEF Retailer), and NHT (to name a few).

LOL I live about 12 hours flying distance from you and I personally think your making a big mistake at mismatching the front loudspeakers!

I would also like to demo that setup, do you know if they make their own amplifiers and pre/pros or is someone else making them for them?

Back to the topic at hand..

If there isn't much around locally, look to ID. You'll save money compared to brick and motor stores, but you lose the ability to audition.

That's a fair bit of money to throw down. Do you have past experience in audio? What tastes do you have? How much Move/Music usage will this system be getting (%/%). How large is the room?

hey! I'm from up der in duh wisonsin area.;) but not I live in the ATL area

As bored ''young men'', we used to go out to this store( back then it was Flanners and Hafsoos or something like that) to have a look at all the fancy equipment they carried. And to annoy the salesmen by asking them to crank everything up to ear bleeding volumes :D Maybe they have something you're looking for..

There was just a huge av123 get together in Chicago so I know there are a bunch of guys who live out there with systems.

Might want to take a look at the Reference system in addition to all the other stuff.

If you post over at their forum I guarantee you will find someone that will let you come over for a demo.

I wasn't mismatching front speakers, with the paradigm's, that is their new huge CC, to go with the new lineup... all in the v4 studio line..

I have had some nice systems, but I have been waiting until I got my new house to start really throwing $$ at my system... Just got a 50" 9uk Panny I would put it at a 50/50 movies/music. I listen to alot of everything, from jazz to blues, early rock, New age..all over the map. Room is about 8200cuft. and will take some uumph to fill, so I wanted to get some really nice products.. kinda investing into the future.. So I will be lookin for a large Sub. like a SVS 12-plus/2 for the low end.. and then a nice reciever, I was thinking Seperates, but just not now... going to wait for the next batch to come out..

I know its an oddly shaped room.. and I need to dress it up with treatment, its on the list. I have really spent the last 5 months doing my homework, and now I want to pick out those speaks.

Thanks Uberberzerker, and majorloser - I did go to Flanners, but I didn't really care for the Def Tech's, and I didn't listen to the Canton's.. they look freakin nice, but I think they might be out of my price range with center, and surrounds.. I might just have to go revisit Flanners again, its just that the guys there were just moron's, and I hate to listen tot their crap.. he wanted to sell me a Sony 5200, I was like... ahh I was thinking seperates...
Im really interested in speaks that don't throw to low, 30 - 40hz is great as I will rely on my sub to fill in the bottom... well below my cut off point. Im not for sure on the SVS, but I figure it gets great reviews, and I'll need to power to fill that space...

The thing I liked about the Paradigm's was not just the studio 100's as they sounded real close to the 700 B&W, but the ADP's would be great for my rear surrounds... cause speaker placement will be hard with that room...

I was told that the Onix Reference 3 was really nice, maybe a step above the
Energy Veritas 2.4i and those were a bit of a step above the Studio 100's, I did like the Veritas, but now were climbing into the digits...
Maybe I should open my wallet a bit farther.... hehehhehe
Im having a hard time not jumping into the real wood finish... to match the rest of my house... if ya know what I mean...  Keep the ideas coming... I appreciate all your thoughts...

Yes, if you look at the Vento line from Canton $5,000 will only be a down payment :(

Take a look at the Ergo and the Karat series. You could definitely do a 5.1 in either of those line.

This site has some discontinued Cantons for sale:

Check out Canton's main site, also:

(and YES, I do own Cantons)

I will also tell you, that Those Canton's are beautiful speakers..
They sounded very nice... :)

Warp,

When you get down to the Windy Place, be sure to audition some Sonus Fabers and Vienna Acoustics...particularly the latter, which is more in your price range. I think you'll like them. I've heard all the brands you're considering, and to my ears anyway, Sonus and Vienna are quite superior in imaging, power, dynamics, and beauty.

Look around this forum and you'll see some dastardly stories about Paradigms. I'd avoid those like the bird flu. Those recommended Cantons are priced pretty nicely, btw. I trust Majorloser with having a good ear (or two). ;)

You can look at them both here ----> http://www.sumikoaudio.net/

I'd stay away from Paradigm/Anthem products, if I were you.

There's a very good chance you'll regret it.

AC4L is a reputable company. Those are discontinued (last years) Cantons. Still, they are some DAMN good speakers. Any time you can get a good deal on Canton Ergo's take a look. They are beautilful speakers. The Karats are also great speakers. If you're buying a powered sub you don't need the biggest towers.

I passed up a good deal from AC4L on a set of Canton Ergo 1002 towers last month (need more money:( ). My towers are basically the same as the 702's in cherry and they sound GREAT.

Man, but I would think about selling my soul for a pair of Vento towers.

I very recently bought discontinued Canton Ergo speakers for a new 5.1 setup at home (702 DC as mains, CM 502 center, 202 DC surround), while the subwoofer is the newest for the serie (Ergo AS 650 SC).

I got them for a very good price, including the subwoofer. I would not have bought a full Canton Ergo 5.1 set to retail price as that would have been too expensive. They are great speakers, both in sound and in looks.

Those discontinued Cantons Ergo speakers was introduced in October 2003, so they are not that old.
