My take on home theater.

I’m going to attempt to put into words my general feelings and the enjoyment home theater brings me and how it actually to a certain extent has and continues to give me a positive outlet to fulfill my free time and has given me something to be passionate about. Long story short, I was wounded in Iraq in 2007 in Balad. I was on prescription pain killers for years and while I managed to finish my degree in computer sciences and even land a decent job, my eventual abuse of these pills led to a full blown IV drug user lifestyle with all of the fun things and perks that whole smorgasbord of pain and despair brings with it. Fast forward to today and I am a little over 2 years sober, I work a sales job that is far from my dream job but it’s honest money and allows me to pay for my own place, car and far more home theater gear than one should own who doesn’t have a dedicated theater room or even a mortgage. On my days off I spend time reading reviews on here and various other AV forums, reading audio theory, Audyssey XT32 measurement techniques and tweaks, room correction software and a lot of general knowledge stuff to help me use REW & the Audyssey App along with everything else in between. I wanted to say that in home theater I have found something I look forward to, something that seems like it’s never ever done (there was a 4 month period where I obsessed over XT32 and using full range, Schroeder Frequency or mid range limited EQ), my friends often use my new found knowledge for shopping for their own home theaters and associated equipment (I saved a friend of mine a TON of money by showing him a Def Tech setup that was $900 cheaper than some crazy Bose Lifestyles system he was about to buy for $3,500 or something insane like that), I love reading about the DIY speaker guys and their projects and have slowly started a passive radiator x 2 with a 10” driver build all from information and calculators gained from these forums and those like it and seeing the super high end stuff gives me a goal to save my money for. If this isn’t the right place to post this or it’s inappropriate I apologize but I just wanted to put it out there. I hope you all are enjoying it as much as I am!

Awesome sharing, bro!

Home Theater is huge for many of us.

It’s very therapeutic.

@Phase 2 and I were saying that a lot of people spend a lot of money on things that they may use several times a year. But all of us here use our Home Theater every single day.

Always great to have goals in life. Extremely important to have these goals.
