The sub of my cabridge soundworks megaworks 2.5d blew or so I think. On high volumes and high bass tunes the sub starts making weird vibrating sounds. When i push the subwoofer in manualy it goes smooth to a level and then resists and makes a scratching noise if I try to push it further. Anyway, it is a 8 inch, 150W speaker. The speakers are 2 +the sub. The amplifier is in the sub box and it goes to 300W. I was thinking of just buying a 8 inch speaker to replace the broken one. I was wondering if changing the sub would affect the acoustics? Also can I use a speaker that is more than 150W? would something like 200-400W speaker work? And lastly, I think I can get the broken speaker repaired fairly cheap, but heard that after a speaker has blown, if it is repaired the quality of the sound would not be the same. I will greatly apreciate any help, coz when it comes to speakers I am a total beginner. Thanks!
