New guy here. This seemed like the logical place to start. Be gentle.

Thanks guys. The Hsu is barely visible in the first pic, with the magazines/catalogs on it.

Very clean, well thought out, and looks to be a good value...what's to be gentle about? That is unless your cables cost more than the rest of your system;)

Do you feel that your room is a little bright?

Is it ok to run that wire along the base of your fireplace? Unless you plan on never turning it on, then it wouldn't matter. Just wondering.

I never use the fireplace, so it's not an issue. I don't want to find out otherwise. I'm renting; otherwise, I'd run the cables in the wall (and mount the rear surrounds).

Cables and interconnects are Blue Jeans or, until I found BJ, Monster. That's as exotic as I'll get.

The room doesn't seem bright to me, but in the future, I'll probably toy around with some treatments to see what's the effect.

I'm really happy with the 990. I think it's well thought out. I like that it's not overloaded with features I won't use. It works and, most important for me, sounds great. I'm sure there are other pre/pros that sound even better, but for my fairly unsophisticated ear, I know I'm starting to reach the point of diminishing returns. The wait is a killer though, as was (for me) sneaking out of work early to beat the Fed Ex guy home and sign for the darn package. :D

How do you like your Outlaw 990? I'm thinking about getting a 970 with the 7-channel amp combo. Seems like a great value.

VERY NICE SETUP!

I really like the equipment rack. I always liked industrial looking racks and stands.

Now if you buy another VTF-3 you'll have matching end tables (just kidding).:p

Peko,

Very well thought out & positioned setup. My only suggestion is employing the use of a few acoustic panels. The combination of room brightness and square shape lend it to being an acoustic nightmare of a room.

For example, if you placed a 2x4 panel in or F/R corner behind your rack, F/L on the piece of wall by LF speaker, one laying lengthwise behind center speaker, one on each first reflection point on sidewalls.....

Wow, it would take your already well thought out setup, and dramatically improve the sound. You'll be shocked at how much it cleans up the bass response and overall clarity. If you can do the back corners too, it would be even better.

Good luck, and enjoy the new toys:)

Looks very nice! It looks that you're using plastic wire loom for wire management. I much prefer TechFlex. TechFlex F6 and FlexoWrap are both great products (I use them at work for workstation cable routing). The FlexoWrap costs more and must be cut with a hot knife, but it has a velcro-close side so it won't pop open like the F6. Either route will give you a very professional look.
