My old TV just broke, Need New One

Okay, I am sad to say that my 10+ yr old 32" Proscan TV in the bedroom just broke. Tears in my eyes.:D

My wife watches everything on this TV every single day.

So, of course, I offered her my 62" Mitsubishi DLP. It is now in our bedroom. She is happy.

That means I am now in the market for a 73" TV.

Projector for BD movies, TV for everything else.

I read the Audioholics review on the Mitsubishi WD-73735.

I got the impression that this TV is "good" overall, but not super.

I don't want to spend more than $2K.

What do you guys think?

Man, I still like my 73-inch 833 Diamond. It is on about 8 hours a day and is over 2 years old and the bulb is just like the day I got it. To me, the PQ is as good as my plasma.

All that being said, I would wall mount the biggest plasma, you can find in your price range, since you have a PJ for movies.

Go for it, my friend has the 65" 735 series and it looks good. The pic isn't as good as a Pioneer plasma, but for the price you can't beat it. Plus the 73" is just sweet, to me for the savings, and screen size, it's worth the slight loss in pq.

I have the Diamond version of the 65 and I have to say it's pretty damn good. You gotta dial it in, but really, for the money you can't get anything close... and for 70+, I think your options are few. I don't see where you'd be dissappointed.

Alright. I'm getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on this one.

Just talked to my local HT store. I can get it for $1888 + tax.

6th AVE has it for $1888, but I thought maybe I should pay the tax for a local buy just in case something went wrong with the delivery and I have to RETURN a 100 lb 73" TV!

I think you'll be really happy with that. I still think I should have gotten the 73, but I just didn't have the room for the furniture on the short wall of the room.

I think buying local is a smart idea... especially since the cost is about the same in total.

If something is wrong with the tv, mitsubishi will send someone out to your house to fix, or replace the tv if it's under warranty. I wouldn't worry about buying it online as long as you get it from an authorized dealer, that is how I bought all of my HDTV's, and I have yet to have an issue with any of them.

I like Samsung's line of LED based DLP's - no lamp to replace. I'm quite happy with my 61" set, and they have larger.

Yeah, that was posted in the tv section a while back. Looks awesome, can't wait to see one in the stores.

Did you guys see that Mitsubishi is coming out with an 82" DLP? My dealer said that it is suppose to come out later this year, but didn't have a definite date. Price is like $4,200:

If I didn't have a projector already, I would be getting this 82" bad boy.:D
That looks awesome I just finished reading up on it it is almost too big I hope some one does a really in depth review on that beast.

Timing is everything.

If they had a more definite date, I would be getting it.

Man, if they had this 82" beauty out months ago, or if I had known this months ago, I would not even get a projector!

Talk about BRAGGING rights!!!

Oh, well, the Sony TV in my LIVING room just might break a couple of years from now.:D:D

I love my samsung I have now,but IMO Mitsubishi makes a great product ! my old tv was a front projection 52" Mitsubishi, the one with the fold out mirror, that dam thing lasted me like 20+ years ! it finally gave up,and I let her go quietly, but she served me well.
