I got pair of used Fostex T20RP for $10 a long while ago (7-8 years)
At the time condition was great (esp. for $10), but time takes it's toll and foam cushions got eventually fully eradicated.. I got brand new T50RP for home and brought these T20 to work to play around with....
Extended listening confirm - I still love them and while I heard some very good and expensive headphones like
MDR-SA5000 I don't think my T20 are much worse - on the country they are very close, not there, but very close
I felt really bad for them and decided 2nd is needed. With some research I found that original cushions are way too expensive - $30/each so I skipped these, instead choosing these:
Amazon.com: Shure HPAEC840 Replacement Ear Cushions For SRH840 Headphones: Electronics
They fit fine and make old T20 look brand new again !!
, but was something still missing - not so much problem with pop/rock, but listening classical I felt severely limited by headphone amp on Behringer UCA202 - don't get me wrong - it's great little amp, but as proven before - it's very mediocre as headphone amp if headphones are somewhat demanding and T20 are in middle of the road
I decided spend another $20 for amp and after some more research I picked Fiio E5
Amazon.com: FiiO E5 Headphone Amplifier with Micca Y Cable: Electronics
I just got and quick testing shows significant improvement in levels and no more annoying clipping from crappy uca202 amp = me very happy !
