my next big buy needs plenty of help!

k heres the scenario I'm 18 and I'm a harsh a/v consumer. i have bose speakers... i know i bought them befor i found out about this site... i have a denon avr 3808ci all hook up to 7.1 with an extra 10'' sub and the bose subs. i have a xbox, xbox 360 elite and a ps3 i know a decent amount about a/v but need a couple of pointers for my next buy. i have a 20'' crt tv which is the problem! i have about a 2000 dollar budget(for boxing day ) and looking anywhere between 36-42'' LCD/plasma flat panel MUST be 1080p. i have a couple of ideas but i want to know whats the best out there right now and what i should be looking for any knowledge would be much appreciated

How far will you be sitting from the TV? And why MUST you have 1080p?

i know the whole if its under 42'' theres no point in having 1080p cause the human eye cant pick up the difference and mike c that was an interesting article. but when ever i see 1080p consumer tvs compared to 720p im blown away at the difference but im always up close... id average about 8 feet away from the tv but would like to go closer

8 feet or closer to a 42" screen warrants 1080p to my standards

what does bit rate do an how important is it?
