My new Samsung DLP comments and issues

Got the new 42" samsung DLP yesterday and the picture is amazing. I am not really sure what the "rainbow effect" looks like but I did not see any watching "Batman Begins" last night. One thing I did notice was a slight lip sync issue. Now I did not notice it at the begining of the movie but I could have been too engrossed in the picture to have noticed but halfway through it started to bug me. I have a Yamaha c750 DVD player and I am playing the DVDs with just my Studio60s in the front. Would a lack of a center channel cause lip sync issues? Going into the c750's menu after the movie it was not set on the correct screen geometry. Would that cause it? It was late so I did not fiddle yet. Any suggestions?

Rainbow Effect

Hi sts9fan,

Unfotunetly, I do see the rainbow effect. If you are looking at the screen and move/scan your eyes quickly to the left or right you will see a quick prism line within the center or corner vision. This does not happen for everybody. For me it doesn't matter if it is an enclosed tv unit or full projection.

As for the lip sync problem, definitely try a center channel. The others here will let you know if that is the wrong advice for the lip sync problem.

Bryguy.

Unfortunately, I believe the lip sync problem can only be corrected through a receiver that has that feature.

Yeah, me too. I tend not to notice it now that I've got used to it though.

I do notice is that it is particularly with dark black scenes in films that it is most apparent, so Sts9fan, if you didn't see The Rainbow Effect with Batman, you probably never will.

Regards

well

I guess for now I will just watch movies through the tv becuase it corrects the problem. I have seen the rainbows but it does not really bother me so much. The picture really is great! On the bright side now I can start a RX-V2600 fund.:D
