I just finished putting up drywall over old paneling and installed new carpet throughout. We didn't have as much room and the back surrounds were too far apart do to the stairs. Now the sweat spot is a couple of feet further from the TV and all surrounds are the same distance as well.

Click to expand... I agree with Sheep, I would have left the room oriented in the opposite direction. The front sound and video stage is far more important than rear surround placement. But, that is what makes this hobby so much fun. You can always tinker with the setup, within set limits.
