Ok so I am a newbie at all this I purchased the following system and will put it all together this weekend.

Denon 3310CI
Sony BDP-S550
Samsung 52A850
Polk Tsi-300 Front
Polk OWM-3 Rears
Polk 111 Sub
Harmony 1100 remote

Gotta say the Denon looks good, hope it works good as well. Purchased it in a package deal.

Any recomends on a Power supply/surge procetor for the above and speaker cable?

Thanks for the help!!!

Nice system! Congrats on all the new gear.

For speaker wire, you don't need to go expensive. I like the site linked here for a good recommendation of the gauge to get for your speakers and the distances of wire that you'll be using. Monoprice.com is a good place to get inexpensive quality wires. However, you might want something sooner than they could deliver (since you're setting up this weekend), so let us know if you want recommendations for local stores. There are many places to get cable, and typically you'd pay more for aesthetics.

For surge protection, there are several threads on the forum for that. I have a Belkin PureAV console (and bought my parents a Belkin power strip) and am happy with it. I have an APC power strip on my computer system.

Thanks!

I ve been looking at the Monster Power Units that give pure power and surge protection, Are the monsters just hype or are they good. I only need to run a small amount of speaker cable, 10' each side for thr fronts and 20 feet for the rears. Sub has three connectors? so special cable needed?

I know the Denon will run all of this fine, might take a bit to set up but can't wait.

Thanks

Monster is a dirty word here. They are fine but way over priced.

Your sub should only require one RCA cable.

Hi. The Dawg is right - your sub only needs one RCA cable. The three inputs just give you options. There is one for an LFE input, which is what you would connect to the subwoofer output from the Denon. The LFE input doesn't use the internal crossover on the sub, which is what you want because you will be handling all the bass management through the Denon (well, I'm assuming that you will be).

Thanks Adam I'll do that, dont't fully undersatnd why but if the Denon does the management why not.

I kinda got good deals on everything so thats why I went for it all. The total out lay for the speakers was $571 with tax. Polk had a program that gave the sub away for FREE! and in this economy FREE is good!

The Denon came as a package $1299 for both receiver and BDP. The sales man said the Denon BDP was not good and replaced it with a Sony.

All in all I am happy (for now) waiting till I start the set up this weekend.

Thanks
