Look really nice. Are you selecting between it and EP-500 or is Axiom the old sub? It would be interesting to hear your impressions between them.

they're both new. right now the cht15r beats the axiom hands down
(because the axiom isnt running yet, I fried the fuse - 220v and all)

I plan to keep them both ...
when I get them running Ilkka, im gonna need your help for setup questions (risks of cancellation)
the manufacturers themselves say that I shouldnt mix brands, but I say, I want to listen which one is better myself AND use them both at the same time.

im also curious as to why similar subs by competent makers are supposed to have totally different SQ.
both are slot ported
both are similarly powered
both front firing
so the question is: will a 12"er beat a cheaper 15"er?

you think I should leave one of the subs in that corner so both subs are closer together or use the
FL - sub - TV - sub - FR setup?

see that cardboard thingy above the right front speaker? thats to the exact dimensions of a b&w 601s3 speaker ... im trying to see if it will overwhelm my pc table :)

the 601 is perfect, the price difference between the 601 and 602 is just 100 bucks. but the 602 is gigantic.

IIRC you had 7% of the purchase of a DD15 before you got this Velo...what's up??? You're down to zero, must have got the 15 for $180?

Congrats on your new toy...enjoy it:D

got it for 806USD :) I used my receiver fund - since I plan to win the 2600 anyway.
I didn't know the 15"er had a piano gloss front, I thought I was gonna get the one in the website with the matte finish.

thanks!

That must be a great price in Manila, it's retail here in the states. When you get the EP500 up and running you owe us all a comparison :).

I wonder who will win that.

Big driver in a box tuned to 32Hz, or a crazy, slightly smaller driver in a better box....

I WISH I knew the answer to that.

but I think it would depend on how different the performance is of these 2 units ... that I would be willing to drop the DD-15 off my wish list (or at least lower in priority)

I have only watched 1 movie with the 15R (Kung Fu Hustle) and I haven't been awed yet. next chance I get would be thursday, Its time to break out the DVD's I bought like WOTW, Incredibles, etc.

What you need is a rug...that looks like one bright room.

Yikes! no I hadn't. So is it bright or what? You could use a couple of rugs too man :) A buddy of mine has Paradigm Studios in a room like that and it is nearly ear piercing to me.

Actually, considering my Energy's have Aluminum domes and the plaster walls with concrete floor, its not THAT bright. More then I'd like, but its not the speakers fault.

Don't worry, Hopefully my room is going to be reno'd in a year or 2, so I don't that to live with this much longer.

as much as I hate curtains ... I already had the interior designer measure up some curtains ... and look for an area rug for me. my couches arrive may or june, those should suck up some brightness too.

I tried the machine rising scene from WOTW last night: I was finally afraid of what was coming up out of the ground, I was now also afraid of disturbing other people in other parts of the house some distance away (split level house)

I also tried the first track of Diana Krall's DTS CD. I never got passed the first track with my old JBL because all I heard was booooooooooom, boooooooom, booooooooom. But now, I can now clearly here her voice and whatever instrument that was making that bass sound. I never liked jazz stuff, so I have never listened to that CD before ... it looks like I am now willing to give it a try.

Diana Krall Live in Paris is a GREAT demo. Lots of fast, tight bass, both from the strings and the percussion. WOTW is pretty good for sheer volume and LFE. The ferry scene also has some room rumbling. Incredibles...most scenes :), Master and Commander DTS, U571 DTS, etc... I was shocked (I mean literally scared for a second) by Master and Commander during the cannon scene when I fired up my 15" for the first time :D
