Hi all here are pic of my HT. I will update them as I move along. The room dimension are 25' X 15'. currently wiring for 7.1, 8' dropped ceiling. All the insulation that is on the floor I put in the ceiling, for noise. Should I insulate the wall were the stairs are for acoustics? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. John

All that insulating the stair wall would do is to keep that wall from being resonant and might help make your stairs sound a bit more solid as you walk up and down them.

Insulation doesn't really do anything for acoustics, it does do a small bit for sound isolation.

Acoustics deal with what is inside a room, isolation deals with sound getting out or coming in. Both are important, but I'd probably give the edge to acoustics.

I'd suggest wiring for 7.4.;) Center of each room dimension.

Yes, wiring for 4 locations at the center of each wall allows for more sub placement options/subs.

7.4 is really shorthand for 7.1 with 4 subwoofer jacks for subs in corners (or sides of room).
I believe there is white paper (Harman?) about putting subs on the sides if using four.
In any case I wired my 7.1 room ("7.2") for 2 front corner sub locations.

If I had to do it over again I would consider the following:
- XLR balanced connections (if not cost prohibitive)
- more 20A power outlets (for buttkickers, powered seats, subs, etc)
- consider running smurf tubes or RCA wire to LCR speakers for active speakers -- eg Mark Seaton's Catalysts
