So I have been into home audio seriously for about 6 years now and have always used it for home theater & gaming. Well tonight is the first time I used it as a listening area and really criticized my system. I have it hooked up to my Apple laptop and have some Tchaikovsky - Marche Slave, playing and it is unreal. I have my Apple laptop hooked up to my HTR 6160 via toslink which really provides great sound IMO. See my system specs below. I have it running at above normal levels. I keep it at about -21db for movies, and right now I have it cranking at about -14db and to my ears I believe I have quite a bit more headroom on my SVS but my speakers are getting close to their threshold of turning annoying loud. I cant believe how well this SVS does when it got the treatment of a QSC RMX1450, bridged to 1400 watts I originally thought that would be too much. My speakers arent even shown on Energies website any longer thats how old they are but damnit if they arent a wonderful speaker! I would hole hardily recommend these to both the guy who is just getting in and to the begginer levels of audiophile status. Me Im a bit closer to the beginner side, but I know good sound when I hear it. I have been contimplating upgrading to a set of B & W 803s or 802d, I just cant imagine how much better the sound can get! Now that my music is finished playing, its time to crank up the theater. Cheers to everyone. Sorry for the long winded brag-fest but I had a little bit of inspiration;);)...

Joe, thanks for the post, and I'm glad that you're enjoying your system so much with music. I bet that Ultra is just crying for more. No worries about the bragging. ;) We all gotta do it sometime. :)

Hey Joe welcome .If you can't imagine how much better the sound can get...Try the B&W 802D.... The sound IMO would be drastically improved with the B&W 802D, I wish I could afford them as they are some of the best speakers I have ever heard....:D

Hey Jamie, I have no doubt that the B&W 802D's sound fantastic, but so do these:

I have held these in my arms and they are the best speakers I have heard to date. The really cool thing is, I live about 30 minutes from Tyler Acoustics. Heck, I even got to meet Ty and take a tour of his facility. Needless to say, it was an eye-opening experience.:cool: Anyways, just thought I would mention it to you my friend.

Cheers,

Phil
