I am new to the arena of fidelity and high quality audio :) its had its ups and downs, now that i have managed to get everything under control i decided to give a music dvd a try. The first i bought was on special at the local JB HI FI store, i got the EAGLES HIGH WAY TO HELL, might i just say Bloody brilliant. Recorded in DTS, it has wicked sound much better than the cd version of the dvd i stole from dad (part of the reason for getting my own copy). Now i understand why people buy music dvds, they sound so stunning i was left speechless. It was truely a fantastic experience listening to the Eagles with 5.1 DTS encoded sound.

Later that day (2 hours after my initial purchase i was back in the store) some how i found the meaning to life and bought 2 more music dvds, one of which is Genesis live 2007 in Rome.

Have not had the chance to watch this one yet as i am still amazed with the eagles and am savouring every tone, guitar string pluck the like.

I have had to many run ins with crapy cd recordings and have now been reawakened to what music should really sound like. I will admit i got the idea from a Hi Fi Store which was showing off some of their top gear when i was walking through there also earlier that morning :D. But i am plesantly suprised with my new system additions and the way the can reproduce sound.

MUSIC DVDS ROCK and will get to show off to dad when he comes around this weekend :p

Very cool! I'm glad that you're liking them so much. I remember my first one: Fleetwood Mac - The Dance. I got it back in 1998, and it was the first 5.1 concert video that I listened to. I agree with you...just excellent. The quality was great.

I'm glad to hear that you have made a new discovery; there is a lot of great material that you will want to look up. A few suggestions which have impressed me are:
1. The Eagles: Hell Freezes Over concert
2. The Eagles: Farewell Concert I
3. Roy Orbison: A Black and White Night

All of these brought me a lot of enjoyment and deserve attention!!

The Roy Orbison Black & White Night DVD is an amazing concert, highly recommend. It is a tribute concert by and for Rob Orbison, a long-time rock balladeer, who is well respected enough by his contemporaries (Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt) to have them play back-up for him.
Filmed in black and white at a small club (I beleive in LA) in the late 1980s, it is as good of a performance I have ever seen. You probably have heard some of his tunes before, such as Pretty Woman (used in the movie of same name), Only the Lonely, and Crying.
Search on Amazon.com and read much more elaborate praise than mine--the DTS version has especially good audio IMHO.
You may not have been under a rock too long, if you are under 30--Roy's popularity peaked before then. :)

Yeah i am only 22 , i get most of my music sources from dad who listened to alot of lets say oldies music which i grew to absolutely love when still living at home. Ah ha i know the pretty women song i always wondered who that was. I am not very good with music artists and so forth, and am getting alot of good ideas from guys around here who have similar tastes to me ;)

I would also recommend the Eric Clapton - One More Car, One More Rider DVD. Also, I would recommend Boz Scaggs Greatest Hits Live Concert DVD, Peter Frampton - Live in Detroit, and Steely Dan's Two Against Nature Live DVD.

1. Porcupine Tree Arriving Somewhere...

... It didn't take long for a huge grin to overtake my face, as I sat there reveling in (Steven) Wilson's amazing DTS surround mix. Once again, he has produced one of the finest sounding audio tracks I have ever heard. Strangely though, he doesn't even utilize the center channel - maybe that is the secret. If this guy isn't the best producer/sound engineer in the business, I don't know who is. The Stupid Dream remaster blew me away with its astonishing clarity and power, and this mix is no different.

2. Pink Floyd, PULSE

other nice sounding ones
Iron Maiden Live After Death
Rush Rush in Rio - I don't have R30 but some people like the SQ there better than Rio
Eric Clapton & Friends The Concert for George
