Any THX Ultra receiver is rated to be able to drive 4 ohm loads continously. I would recommend the 60's for a different reason. Having had both (now running the 60's), the M80's are much tougher to place and are considerably more picky to placement to get the proper soundstage. You need to be sitting at around 15' back to get the proper stereo imaging from them. They also need to be further away from the wall as they need more room to breathe. The M60's are more forgiving than the 80's as far as placement is concerned. I didn't feel the difference was enough to justify the price upgrade between the 60's and 80's. The 60's did everything I needed them to do without breaking a sweat. I would take the money you save and either buy a better receiver or invest in room treatments or a hi def player.
I hate when yoy saying buy better receiver or better HD player. I don't know what that means. Please be more specific. What receiver and what DVD player. I'm going to order my HT tomorrow. I'm sure about speakers but still don't know about receiver and DVD player. Onkyo 805 or 857. Maybe anything else. What about Marantz SR8001? I cannot wait. I am more crazy about the sound then picture. Therefore I need an advice what to buy. You already know me. Let me know today, so I can order my dream system. Help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you wanted to get an upgraded receiver I would recommend looking into the Onkyo 875 over the 805, but I think with your budget and needs that is overkill. I would save the money and either buy a good Blu-ray player or HD DVD player. For the BD player I would look into a PS3 if you are a gamer or getting an affordable Samsung model as I hear they do a good job as far as HD DVD players go I would look into getting perhaps an A2 (doesn't do 1080p) which is a bit cheaper. To decide if you would want HD DVD or BD I would suggest look at the supporting studios and existing material to see which you would enjoy having more. Both types players will come with a 5 free disc rebate. They will also upscale very well.

I don't know what more to tell you. If you are more crazy about the sound than the picture go with the 805. As I have mentioned the only difference between it and the 875 is 10 watts per channel and the Reon processor. If you feel the Reon might benefit you (been explained in previous posts) I have my like new 875 up for sale as I have a 905 on order. PM me if interested. In my case I wanted dual HDMI outs and internet radio. It all comes down to what you can justify. ;) For a first major system you really are going to be quite pleased no matter what you order.
