This is my first set up, and i thought maybe my last.. but i am starting to see the limitations of the little bookshelf speakers... but here are the pictures and at the bottom is my future plans...

Currantly i am running an Onkyo DS777 as the heart of my system, video is feed via Svideo from the JVC dvd player and hooked up through the optical port... and the sounds is provided by Energy Take 5 system.. which i am VERY impressed by...

my future additions include

a 5 ch amp not sure on the brand yet
a SV PB12 Plus 2 sub
and ill be replacing all the speakers with NHT's
SC2 center
SB2 surrounds
ST4 towers

then eventuly by then the price should fall anouther few hundred on the LCD tvs and ill get a 40"+ screen... then ill probally be done for a whille...

The Radio Shack 2133, I have one for my brothers tv and stereo. Its alright, but does not compare to a Pronto.

Here is a tip, I found that remote way to sensitive for the backlight is always lighting. Even when you walk into the room it lights up, then is a battery hog.
Tip is, crack the case open and desolder the motion sensor. Then it will work perfectly fine, but you will need to touch pad so it lights up. Will save on battery life.

Here is a pick next to the Pronto, sorry for the poor picture. Hard to do in the hand with exposure set at 1/8. The Pronto is much brighter than the picture shows.

yeah i love the Piano black.. so sexy... thats one of the reasons i realy want to get a set of NHTs too... the only down fall is you cant keep fingerprints off of them.. but i dont have any little ones running around (yet)... that pronto looks almost pocket pc'ish looks really nice... is that one that you can create your own buttons and whatnot... i would like to get one like that.. i know onkyo had one for a whille... c.h.a.d is what they called it i think... i havent heard much about it

I started with the same speaker package. Sounds very impressive for the price and looks great (real high WAF). More than adequate for movies if you use boundary reinforcement for the sub (which I see you've done), but needs to be crossed over at 100 HZ, thereby localizing it somewhat.

You're right, I upgraded a year later realizing not so much the limitations of the bookshelves, but the sub. Good bookshelves that easily extend to 80 Hz will do fine, but spend the dinero on a honkin' sub. If you ask me, it's one of the most important (and more expensive) parts of any system.

funny story about that sub.. the guy i bought the system off of shiped it to me well packed in styrofoam peanuts.. i didnt think nothing of it.. took everything out hooked it up popped in a movie.. the very first bass line is sounded like a blown speaker... i was thinking WTF!!! well i looked behind the sub and there are peanuts EVERYWHERE it apears they got in the sub cabnit via the port... doh... will i shook must of um' out ... that was a few months ago now sometimes when i hit really low bass there are still some in there that rattle... lol what a hassle...

that is so funny, all this time i though that WAF was something technical.. lmao... thats a good one...

and it is VERY true why the heck cant women see the value in sitting at your own home and watching a movie the way it was intinded to be watched (and heard for that matter)

You'll notice all the reviews here on Audioholics (or most at least) incorporate this as a part of the rating, thus making it easier to put products in the "possible" and "no f-ing way" catagories. Of course, most guys don't care how ugly something is if it performs its function well, but women...not so much.

I've not had the pleasure of an SVS experience, but EVERYBODY seems to agree on their excellence and value. That model sounds plain scary...although Axiom's new EP500 actually goes lower as reviewed here:

I'm currently lusting over it. There's quite a few really good subs to choose from in that lofty price range. SVS, Paradigm Seismic and HSU subs don't even get close to that expensive. Sounds like your new system is pretty ambitious and you're neighbours will DEFINATELY hate you. Do you plan to use your Onkyo as a preamp?

LOL! Just like the Bose demo cutaways! Too bad you couldn't see them dancing away in there! Good luck with your upgrade whenever that is and enjoy. Nothing more exciting than gearing up for a new system!

I don't know about pocket pc'ish. But it suites me. Yes you can create buttons, very easy to do. Its actually a year or 2 old model. Got it with the charging base and new battery for 150.00 I may be updrading to the TSU7000. And will sell this one. Here is a link to a review of the one I have..

I would highly recommend either for home theater. Makes for a very user friendly remote.

There is also the TSU6000, but it is an older model of even the TSU3000
For budget, there is also a TSU500. And it can be picked up for about 60.00 (note: the TSU500 is more of a one handed remote)

a little update... i think i might be getting a new reciever first... and possibly soon...

i posted a thread in the reciever section about "upgrading" my currant reciever.. and some people turned me on the the Onkyo SR702 a quick search on ebay revealed that one can be had for under $600 very high WAF! so i might go that route...

i have also made what i call "budget purchasing plans" to also please the wife... i am going to try to do things in $1,000 stages....

SC2 center & SB2 surrounds...

then by then the new 1080p sets should drop a little i price...

i have been doing somethinking... (its usally expensive when i think..lol) anyhow what would i need to run an all component type setup.. like a 5ch sunfire amp, dvd changer, dedicated cd player and speakers... pretty much leave out the reciever... i dont really listen to the radio anyhow...
