Oh my god i found the best deal on a pair of Wharfedale diamond 9.5 floor standing speakers and by doing this have entered the realm of 5.1 audio. I think i am in love the misses better watch out

I dont even want to know what she is going to say when she comes home tonight. Dam i did not think of that before i bought them :D
i will be getting another ear full i think, oh well

Have not been posting for a while, just finished my 4th year engineering project on (fingerprint recognition for use in a payment system) and now actually have some free time, we also won the signal processing project prize which gave me some spare cash to buy these beloved wonders.

Maybe for some of you out there these are not so impressive but trust me on a student budget they are sweeter than Rasberries with ICE COLD Custard.

Does any one else have a pair or had a pair that would like to comment :p

Congratulations on everything...the speakers, the project prize, the whole works. Sounds like thing are going well for you. Now go get some rasberries and custard to celebrate. Wives are generally more tolerant when there's delicious food involved.

cheers i will let you know how it goes, i already emailed her that i was shopping so she may already suspect. This may not have been a wise move since i also want to get a paintball gun in the near future (but that was her idea she wants to join a club) so i should be sweet we will see.

Yeah i quite like the sound aswell very clean. But now that i have got my 5.1 setup for some reason the bass seems to have vanished into thin air.
Using a pioneer receiver with cross over set for 100Hz and when i play movies it all turns to custard (cds sound good though).

Any comments

Wife  oh dear she is only my "partner" as of now, which will change as my next huge purchase will be one of those shinny things that go on a finger :D (if you get my drift)

Yeah things are going pretty sweet at the moment but for a few of our mates families not so much, too many people in hospital. I will take this moment to ay how much i hate hospitals they are just really really really not a place where i like to be.

But how can you not love a girl that wants to go paintballing.

Congrats man. Have fun and enjouy.
Man these speakers really are very very much so enjoyable, since i did not find much on these i thought i would put in my two words worth.

The bookshelves i had earlier which are now used as surrounds like they are meant too, were far to rich in the high frequency range and lacking in the low.

However with the Wharfedales they can hold their own quite nicely against the sub (well maybe i am slightly biased a little since they are new)

Anyway they sound very very good for what i paid for them. Good clear clean vocals that are not too harsh and rock music sound brilliant, aswell as all the classics where the piano kicks in, ohhhhhhhhhh  it just sounds brilliant i think they blow my dads JBL's straight out of the park (But they are somewhat 8 years old too and still going strong, dont even get me started on his BOSE %$^$ that he got)

Lol anyway good finish, brilliant binding posts which are easily accessed and they allow for Bi-amping which if i had a 7.1 system i would deffenitly recommend.

Now back to the listening tests, for a small appartment they just blow my mind and make your brain rattle in its cage !!

they get 2 thumbs up, my new favorite WHARFEDALE :D for a speaker so cheap they really have done a good job and lets not forget to mention the KEVLAR speakers  enough said !!
