In january this year I read reviews relating to the new DENON DVD 3910, at around $2000 AUD recommended price, I was able to purchase at $1700 AUD,
after a short in shop play I was convinved this was for me, as the information stated.
"The DVD-3910 is endowed with technology to unleash the full impact of DVD-Video picture quality. The DVD-3910 also uses dual 12-bit, 216-MHz video D/A converters to faithfully preserve the delicate low-level signals often lost D/A conversion. With these advanced video image technologies, the DVD-3910 will reproduce with the highest resolution, DVD images on Progressive-compliant monitors and projectors. For sound, it is high quality audio D/A conversion and Digital Bass Management that will bring out the best of not only Super Audio CD and DVD-Audio discs, but your entire CD collection as well."
I set it up on my system and was very please with the video side of things, the remote allows you to directly send via 1080! wow what an inprovement on my Samsung 113" HD TV.
I also watched episode 1V of STAR WARS and was thoroughly convinced it was a great buy, sound definition through my new RXV-2500 amp was superb, I have all old JBL 4312A control monitor speakers front, SC 305 centre channel, PS120/230 Powered Subwoofer, and JBL Control 1's elsewhere. I Just recently retired my Yamaha DSP-A2070 Amp from this setup, Any how we were having friends around for tea and after wards a dvd music session, We all wanted to watch Phil Collins "Live and Loose in Paris."
To my suprise it would not play, I tried Cat Stevens "MAJICAT" and after 3/4 of the DVD it kept hanging, also some dvd movies did the same. Monday morning back to the retailer with this piece of junk, I also took the dvd's with me, we tried the same in another DENON 3910, but the same problems appeared, the dealer had a demo Yamaha S-2500 on hand at $1799 AUD but could be had for $1200 AUD, I watched all the DVD's play with exquisite detail and superb video, So I have ordered one in place of the DENON, cheaper better build better dealer response, in the mean time the dealer lent me a Yamaha S-550 $220 Aud this unit also plays all my collection up to this point. I would never purchase any of xxxxx product's in the future.
