There is probably a fuse blown. You'd have to take the cover off to access the fuses.

OH I dont know if that will void the warranty or anything .. I do hear a popping when I power the unit on or when I mute or unmute the sound there is a popping. This is just disappointing because I tossed out my Yahama HTR for the same exact thing!

I hear ya - it's always disappointing to get something brand new and then have it go south on you without knowing what's going on. I have read good things about Outlaw's customer service, though, so hopefully they'll get you up and running very soon.

BTW, you "tossed out" your old equipment? Tossed out? Clearly you are not nearly the pack rat that I am. :)

Didn't your mom ever lecture you about enjoying your receiver because there are so many poor children in the world that don't have any surround sound? :)

Seriously, though, I keep stuff around as back-ups in case something like this happens. I also give my old stuff away to friends - you know, the ones that are too cheap to go buy something new.

Ahhhh! Much different. BTW, hope it didn't sound like I was lecturing. I was just kidding around.

Sometimes I feel inspired enough to take apart broken electronics just to see what's in there. I'm not electrically inclined enough to salvage parts, but I do get curious about what's inside.

I have a few things I like to do with stuff like that, thats broken. Just to name a few of the ones ive done in the past...

Run over with my truck

Throw off my 2nd story lanai and watch the chaos which ensues

Shoot

catch on fire (usually this one is mixed in there with shooting it.)

Oh yeah, then theres the time I went around purposely frying all kinds of SMT's with my power supply. That was a fun one. Watch them spark and glow red hot then pop and smoke :)

I salvage whatever parts are still good like IEC plugs and heatsinks etc but yeah. I already have enough junk laying around.

Are you the same outlawnut who posted about a new 990 that quit working after a few days on the outlaw forum? The guy there is getting his replaced under warranty.
