Ok, first the system, then the story.
[I'm 16, so keep that in mind if you were going to scoff ;p ]

Turntable: Stanton T.60 + Stanton 500b cartrige -/ Connected by Signal Cable Analog 1 [THD < 0.01% at 1 kHz, S/N <-65 dB, Wow/Flutter less than 0.15% WRMS (JIS WTD) with 33 1/3 rpm, 8 pole, 3 phase, brushless DC direct drive motor]
iPod Video 5.0 30Gb ----------------------------/ Connected by TURBOdock V + Signal Cable Analog Mini
FM Tuner: Archer FM amplified antenna [specs unknown]
Speakers: Primus 250 ---------------------------/ Connected by Signal Cable Ultra Speaker [2x 5.25" MMD full range drivers + .75" MMD tweeter, 49-20Khz, 8Ω, sensitivity 92db]

The speakers are ~6.5ft. apart, and the distance from each speaker to the chair is ~7.5ft.

Pardon the blurriness.

Edit: Story time!

So, my whole interest in audio came about almost exactly a year ago, when I started this system. Here's what v1 was:
Same receiver and subwoofer, [but it's cool because my uncles' good friend works at ABT, so I got each of those %25 off] a pair of Bose Model 100 speakers, [which have one ~3" driver and those spring speaker wire clips that accept like no thicker than 18 gauge wire], and a Magnavox CD changer. The speakers and changer I just took from my basement, they weren't being used anyway. When we first hooked up the system, everyone in my family was surprised at the sound those little poop speakers were producing [thanks to the receiver], since my parents had never owned a reciever that cost over ~$200-250 dollars.
I was happy with the system, but knew from the start I'd be getting better speakers. So the next upgrade was an xmas present, Infinity Primus 150 bookshelfs. They kicked alot of *** compared to the Bose speakers. This is the coolest part though: Those speakers cost something like $180 [pair]. My parents got them at Circuit City. 29[!] days later, my CompUSA is closing their HT department [closing sale!!]. They were selling Primus 250's for HALF PRICE! We saw this in the ad that came in the morning paper, and I was like ZOMG! and ran to get the receipt for the 150's. 30 day return policy, and as I said, the next day was day 30! So we went to Circuit City, returned the speakers, sped to CompUSA, and got the last pair of 250's for half price. It was so good.
After that, I just have been slowly accumulating the better wires, changer, and surge suppressor. The FM tuner is the only thing I didn't buy myself [it's my dad's old one, but works great]. Unless I fall on a big wad of cash somehow, the system is done [well, maybe I shouldn't say that]. If I could I would get better speakers, but I don't happen to have $800 burning a hole in my pocket.

So, yea, I'm quite happy with it. It sounds awesome to my less than experienced ears, and with the CD player on I can turn the reciever up 100% and not hear any 'hssss' noises until my head is a foot away from the speakers. I've also done the "crawl around on your knees for subwoofer placement" thing from this website.

Update: Got the TURBOdock V and turntable for Christmas. I know the turntable is kind of 'wannabe dj', but I think it looks really cool. And it definitely sounds good.

Comments, criticism, ideas etc. appreciated!

It's cool to see younger people in to something positive. I remember becomming interested in stereo/hi-fi at about the age of 9/10. It was stereo only back then but still nice. Nice start.

great pics and equipment...

I have to ask though, why did you spend that much on cables?

In the feature, for your benefit, unless you get really good cables cheap don't put much stock in them. Just type "snake oil" in the search forum and you will get all kinds of info.

Yea, I know. I sorta had cash burning a hole in my pocket when I ordered those. But I can see two upsides to them now, even though I wish I hadn't spent so much: No one I've met my age knows much of anything about audio, so my friends are like WOAH! fatty cables! The other advantage, I guess, is if I ever get better speakers I won't feel compelled to buy better cables.

However, I really thought I heard better separation/depth when I hooked them up. Probably just the rush of holding such heavy/thick cables in my hands, but w/e;)

Those cables also look nice. I'd love to have pretty, fat cables, but I dont have the cash for it.

That is a nice setup you have, very clean.

What tunes do you play through it? Have you considered exapnding to 5/6/7.1?

I agree with the above poster, it's nice to see a competant teenager. Welcome to AV, I hope you have lots of money :D

I'm a big fan of all kinds of techno, and when I say all kinds I mean cheesy H+H, hardstyle, DnB, industrial, everything. That's probably 60-70% of my music. The rest is pretty much various kinds of rock: The Beatles, Coldplay, Modest Mouse, Ben Folds, Simon/Garfunkel, Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, etc etc. I also like lounge music and classical/orchestral music but I only have like 10 songs combined of those genera's. So, basically anthing except opera, country, and rap, there's at least a few artists I like.
While we're talking about music, here's the best song I've ever legitimately got for free. Everyone have a listen:p http://music.download.com/michaelpenn/3615-8604_32-100044212.html

No, simply because I don't have a TV, and combined my whole family owns 3 SACD's.

impressive

I wish I had the set up you have when I was your age -- you have a very nice set-up! I enjoyed reading about the great deals you got on some of your equipment. I too am always looking for a great deal on good equipment. Keep us posted if you ever make modifications or upgrades.

Thanks for all the positive replies ;p
I might be getting into vinyl a little bit for xmas presents. Just for fun though, like a $200 turntable and albums that 1] I already have on CD and 2] Are only released on LP [techno from Europe]. So I'll take pics/update if that happens.

You should look into a receiver with an Ipod Interface. Never know, might get into surround while you're at it.

Because Ipods have nasty sounding headphone outs. The dock would probably sound better. Also, the multi channel receviers would have more power, even if you only used 2 channels.
