Here is my basement home theater. It is a work in progress. I recently moved into this (small) house and began constructing the theater in the basement. There is a Barco Graphics 808s (CRT) projector and a Barco Reality 6300 (LCD) projector, along with a crestron control system and many other great components. Check out the pictures attached and visit the website of the theater I have created at http://www.basementtheater.com/

Very nice. I have a Barco CRT and you can not beat the picture these units project onto a screen.
Well Done.

Moli.
What are your thoughts on my Home Cinema...

This looks fantastic. Man, every time I look in the member section I find something to make me jealous. Make sure to keep posting the progress. What are the future plans for seating, colours, etc..? What equipment are you using (speakers, electronics and the like)? CRT projectors are the way to go if you can afford it for sure. Goo luck and good job so far.

Thanks for the feedback Moli and Takeereasy!!!

So far not a lot an effort has been put into the future details including seating, carpet, colors, etc...) mainly because the basement is still unfinished. I am doing all of the consruction myself (or with some help) but not contracting anything out.(hopefully). After I get some more of the walls up over the concrete I will start thinking about the details.

As far as current equipment goes, here is what I have;

Barco Graphics 808s (CRT)
Barco Reality 6300 (LCD)
Crestron CNMSX-PRO (Control processor)
Crestron CT-3500 (Color Touchpanel)
Crestron CT-3000\b (Color touchpanel)
Extron Crosspoint 128HVA (Audio/Video Matrix switcher)
Extron DVS204 (Video scaler)
RCA STAV-3990 (Audio receiver)
RCA DVR40 (Direct TV TiVo)
Hughes HTL-HD (Direct TV HDTV receiver)
LITEON LVD-2002 (DVD/DivX player)
Playstation2
Computer (P4 3.0GHz 800MHz FSB, 1 gig ram, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro)
Acustic Audio 12" 3-way floor speakers - Front speakers (they're old but don't sound too bad)
Bose 201 - rear speakers
Bose VCS-10 - Center speaker

Keep the feedback coming, and don't forget to see more deatails aboout the theater at my site

Nice equipment.

Crestron.......
My dream remote control

How do you find it? Did you do the programming on your own?

Hi Moli and Rob and evryone,

The Crestron... (oh man I love this thing!!!) The 3 touchpanels actually all came from ebay. They are not the newest, sleakest looking touchpanels Crestron makes, but they are color and they are a pretty good size. They were all under $250.00 each. As for the processor, I will just have to leave that with... I got the deal of a lifetime. Although, my buddy just purchased the same one (CNMSX-PRO) off of ebay for $400.00 I have done a lot of the programming myself, and actually have completed the first Crestron training class, with plans for taking the second this summer. I can make the crestron do about 90% of what I need it to do with my programming knowledge, but there are a few of the more complex RS-232 commands that I had to have someone I know write.

As for the 2 projectors, Honestly, my answer would have to be, because I have 2 (really good) projectors. I use the 6300 mainly if I am using a computer, bucause the computer is probably the most likely source to burn the CRTs in the 808. I also tend to use the 6300 while there is daylight, because I have not finished the basement all of the way and light still comes in through the windows. The 808 is bright enough with this light, but the 6300 is brighter. I guess it also provides as a backup incase the 808 ever were to fail durring a big event, when a lot of people are watching and there is no time to try and repair. The 808 is obviously the one I do prefer to use, but the 6300 has racked up it's share of hours as well.

Thanks for the questions,

DG

Wow, Thanks for the info JohnA, I will have to keep that in mind. You don't find too many people that know Crestron in my area.

Almost forgot.... Check out the screenshots from PBS HD last night. This is the Barco Graphics 808s. in action.
