My AVR is now in my rack.. but which shelf?

Yo! So I finally received and assembled my new A/V rack. Its a 4 or 5 shelf rack, and the shelves are thick black glass. My question is, can my Pioneer Elite VHX-01 live in one of the middle shelves, or does it have to live on the very top? I don't want to create any heat issues... but the rack is completely open on all sides, and There is at least 2" of space above the AVR, maybe 3", id have to measure.

Advice? recommendations? Dos? Don'ts?

Second question is about my 1000 watt PowerCom UPS. Can it too live in one of the shelves? It fits in the bottom shelf perfectly, with almost ZERO space above it, but the vents on the UPS are on it's sides, not on the top.

Sounds fine. Receiver at either very top for max ventilation, or very bottom since heat rises.

Heat rising wont be any kind of an issue as I don't see the heat goign through the thick glass. It would vent out all 4 sides first I think. Anything else?

Since the rack's open on all 4 sides, there shouldn't be any issues.

Ok great.. i was hoping for that. For some reason, the AVR looks better in one of the shelves rather than on the very top. I also think it will help with dust.

As long as you don't have the glass pancaked right on top of the receiver, it should be OK. If you can, leave at least a few inches over the top. If it was mine, I would put a fan on it.

I've got my receiver on one of the middle shelves, I would prefer it to be on top just for ease of access to all the cables, but my middle and bottom racks can't support the weight of my IPS-1, so that has to sit on top, even though it barely gets warm.

Generally when assembling a rack you try to keep the heavy stuff on the bottom to prevent it from being top heavy and all the stuff you would have to interact with such as dvd players, etc up at the top so its easy to reach. As long as you have open space around the reciever It wont make much appreciable difference if its on the top of the bottom concerning heat.
